Monday night's wine club saw a bevvy of excellent selections. Windy & I brought 2 bottles of '01 Caymus Special Selection Cab and 1 bottle of '96 Pichot Les Larmes de Bacchus Vouvray. On the table was a Grand Cru right bank Bordeaux from the St. Emilion appellation, several Syrahs, plus a multitude of Cabs including a great Odette and an Anderson Conn Valley Signature.

Do you drink much Australian wine?

Hmm, @Matty01 and I might have to fix that!

I do have an Aussie Cab from 2012 down the cellar. Not ready to drink for years though.

He may not know what he is missing out on. We have all types of wine down here, white and red.

A missed opportunity - you could have paraphrased a scene from The Blues Brothers with "We have both kinds of wine down here, white and red."

Damn, I think that was what my right brain was trying to make me do. 2012 was damn fine, I am accumulating a significant number under the house. Especially W Australia. And I agree. Most are not destined to come out for at least 10 years

A 10yr tawny port recommended by @ulackfocus. Just fantastic.

Did you get that at the LCBO? If so, I'll have to pick some up...

I drink a lot of Australian wines...in particular when we are there, but they are a good value here as well compared to say US wines. Part of my wife's family lives in Mount Gambier, so we usually take a couple of days to cruise around visiting the wineries in the area. So I have sampled many wines from the Coonawarra and adjacent areas. I've also had quite a few from the Clare valley area.

We always bring some home with us, but I also have a number of bottles in storage with my relatives in Australia. Of course I always buy a few extra to cover the inevitable inventory shrinkage that happens when we are not there... 馃檮

Cheers, Al

Yes, LCBO recently received some new stock. Well worth the money.

On the rare occasion I drink coffee, I'd take DD over Starbucks every time.

No, not much at all.
Looks like you buy most of your stuff off a website? Which one? I will have a quick look to see what Aussie stuff they are offering.
