My fav brand, the Balvenie Scotch, but new addition for me tonight. 14yr Rum Cask.

Edit: the nose is incredible, really rich. Still the same Balvanie soft finish but sweeter and slightly less peppery. To me anyway. My fav pour is their double wood 17 and Redbreast Lustau for reference. This ones going to be a staple.

When you get a wierd gin... experiment with variations on a negroni.

Aged rye based Gin... basically rye whisky that has been given the dry gin treatment.

It’s good... still trying to make it shine.

Getting my Turkish Raki on... interesting.

It louces hard when served with traditional ice.

Is it an anise flavour?

Yup think Sambuca or absinthe like. Not sweet though like sambuca. Less complex then absinthe.

This is becoming a go-to every-day type of Bourbon for me. Nothing really complex or distinctive, but consistently good and easy-to-drink.

I’ve drank a lot of Raki in my time. I lived in Izmir for 2.5 yrs where that is made and bottled. It’s almost a requirement for a man to drink Raki when I was there. Turk coffee in morning, Apple chai or Tuborg beer during the day, Raki in the evening. I have a bottle if it, break it open every once in a while and it brings back those memories of that beautiful country and my time there. It’s a lot like a Greek Ouzu for those interested.
