WRFS What Returned From the Spa Today?

I guess this is a Guess what didn't come back from the spa post. After six months, and with outrageous expense, my watch came back today and the crown fell off as soon as I attempted to set it. I really wanted to keep the original 18k crown, but they insisted that it would not make with the new stem (stem was slightly bent). After an extensive search for an original buckle and strap, I am bummed. Anyway here are the photos I had hoped to post after it was done. I will keep you posted on progress. I also was surprised that half the strap I sent with it was put on backwards. I am starting to question the quality of the service from tell tale signs.

Update, I was able to screw the crown back on. Still sloppy work.

That is such a beautiful example of a clean, time only design. And the strap is in great condition and stunning. Sorry to read about the crown issues. Hopefully the bad experience will fade and you can get back to enjoying this watch.

It is a beautiful piece. It is a bummer about the crown. Hopefully you will be able to find a replacement that goes well with the watch.

The Cal 421 stem fits the Cal 401. I have found a cheap Cal 421 parts movement with the right crown. It is on the way.

Constellation 168.005 14k yellow gold just came back from my watchmaker today. Super happy with how it came back. It wasn't running, crystal was scratched, and it was filthy when I bought it.

The original decagonal crown had to be replaced. I was only able to find it's replacement BF 8100/1664Y so the hunt continues. The replacement crown is definitely more practical though so I can't complain.

I've had better luck using telepathy than my fingers to wind those original crowns.

Beautiful watch. No regrets on the crown. Looks great on that strap on your wrist.

How come the crown had to be replaced (or was it simply for water resistance?)

According to my watchmaker, the crown was damaged and filled with green corrosion. The inner ring that holds the crown gasket in was worn and missing, and they just stuck another ring inside that does not even fit.

He sent me the following picture and I received all the parts back as well.

Backstory: I bought the watch on eBay back in Nov 2023. It was described as working. However, when I received it, it would not run. The dial is so nice that I decided to keep it and send it in for service. Turns out the eBay seller's service was poorly done, the whole movement was covered in oil, and the center wheel was damaged. The seller was a high volume seller as well but I guess it's caveat emptor as usual.

My 145.022-69 Speedy back from the spa today. In edition to the standard service, it's service dial was replaced with a correct step-dial.

The local watchmaker finished servicing my Speedmaster today. Omega finished a warranty repair on the CK859 and sent it back today as well. What a happy coincidence 😀!!

The chrono hands came in those two colors, orange and yellow. It is a way to mark which buttons correspond to which hands.
