I am new to vintage watches and I picked this up at a pawn shop in 2006 for $40 with the intention of getting in to the hobby then, and then life happened. Today I decided to go down the rabbit hole and opened it up and I found the winder screw broke off in the winding bridge. So my question is, is it worth the effort trying to fix?

Yes, looks in good shape and worth £500+ in today’s market. Check out sold prices on eBay or window shop on Chrono24

Yup. Case looks sharp, dial probably looks better than in that picture (I assume some of the marks/dust are on the crystal).

Nothing there will be a problem for a professional watchmaker to repair…

I think the crown wheel screw is an easy fix for a competent watchmaker. With a service and a new crystal you will have a very nice watch.

Here's what mine looks like after a visit to Archer..The hands were replaced because the finish was flaking also, the crown was replaced because I intend to wear the watch and wanted it to have some moisture protection. The original hands and crown were returned to me incase I want to have them put back on.
