I have thought long and hard, about releasing my public assessments of the auctions BEFORE the sale - so I am moving to a new method of releasing my thoughts AFTER the sale - I have listed the lots that interest me and that I will review after the sale. None of the watches are mine, and I do plan on bidding in the sale.

The catalog is here

My list is here and my review will be later.

Here are the watches, details on WOK site or my post.

Here are some questions:

Is the UM real?
What about the other 145.012 - could that become a UM?
Is the 2998 dial original?
Which is the nicest watch, money no object?
Which is the best buy at the low estimate?

Reminder the WOK speedmaster list is here, and my list here

Lot 93

Lot 94

Lot 95

Lot 96

Lot 97

What do you think?

For me, this is a little like the concept of “Speed Dating.” If at first blush, I’m not grabbed, I just move on. However, I of course appreciate there are many more legitimate levels to assess a piece by, which you do most adroitly.

At a quick glance the 2998-4 looks promising. The only one in the sale that looks attractive to me.

Spacefruit we appreciate your postings and look forward to your experienced thoughts on the auctions.
Lot 97 looks like a good daily wear. 25% buyer premium + VAT + shipping to USA kills any chance I would bid.

Lot 95, please.

On second look, I'll pass. Somebody's messed around with the lume. The marker at 1 looks especially bad.

I guess WOK's ploy is to post some really shitty small pictures and let the viewer's imagination work...

similar thoughts. -76 or earlier which I think will look better then the pictures suggest once it is in hand. My money is this goes to an on-site bidder or someone who was able to see it in hand.

There were two worth having, and one that I regret not having.

I almost bid on 97 but the 25% buyer premium shipping to US and VAT was too dear. I know in time something worthwhile will show up here.
I'm curious to view your report.

Quick question...considering the auction is in England

The buyer's premium is listed at 25.20 including sales tax. It's my understanding that the VAT in England is 18%, thus if the buyer's premium is 25.20, the auction house is only charging 7.2% above VAT. Is this correct?

Look forward to the review...

I read 25% plus VAT plus shipping to US?

Hopefully someone from the UK knows the answer... 43% plus shipping is quite high no matter where you live.

Lot 93 went higher then I expected.

96 and 97 went higher then I thought. If you replaced the pound with usd the price makes more sense.

Lot 94 was the pick of the litter and actually sold for a reasonable price. If my current situation was different, I would have easily bid that up to the low-30's all-in and felt great about it.

Since these are out of my range I didn’t really look at it. Now I will in the morning and re evaluate it.

No the VAT here is 20% so the buyer’s premium at WoK is 21% * 1.2 = 25.2%
