so I now finally have an answer, that particular deployant clasp is converting a regular pin buckle into a deployant, or you could consider it giving you a bonus pin buckle.
Hence the engraved grand seiko logo is oriented as it would be for a normal pin buckle.

finally got one of those deployants in hand to see it in person.
