With increased local armed robberies, I’m no longer wearing Rolexes

I've removed a few of these posts because its starting to turn into squabbles about perforating thieves rather than the original watch related topic. Just as a reminder we allow guns and gun discussions, but not gun politics or fantasising about various John Wick type scenarios, no matter how tacti-cool your setup may be.

OMG why is there not a tacti-cool thread where we can dump memes of wannabe John Wicks? Seems like a missed opportunity for some laughs, though, I recognize the risk of thread spiraling *sigh*

I feel safe in the rural Midwest US but wouldn't parade around Michigan Ave with my sleeves up.
Three cheers for Fall weather and sweaters to keep the wrist candy warm and cozy.

I guess there's a downside to the thread, "How do you ship your gold bullion?" 😁

Gotta ask Bob M.

While I loathe the idea of handing over one of my watches to a mugger, I'll gladly do so if I find myself in that situation. I value my life and my family far more than any watch in my collection. False bravado sounds great on an internet post, but I suspect that it will get you injured or killed in the real world.

Sadly, many now just shoot first and ask questions later. Happened to a semi-famous rapper. His girlfriend went live on Instagram at a restaurant. He was known to wear expensive watches. Criminals rolled up and started shooting. They got some cheap junk instead of his prized pieces. So, yeah, totally not worth it. AND a big reason why we say to never post GTG photos while the event is active.

What about we throw a porn sub thread on top of the tacti-cool threat, they actually go hand in hand.

Finally we can get answers to questions such as - can I wank while wearing my Speedmaster - or equally important information such as timing yourself and what porn star was sporting what model. Possibilities are endless.
If the Speedy is an auto winder, you have an excuse if you’re caught in the act of having a left handed wank…….” I was just winding my watch “

Wasn't trying to create an issue. Every one is free to handle opfo however they see fit

Speaking of tac-ti-cool... I'm surprised we haven't seen a Bond movie, or some other action flick where the hero gets shot at, and he/she blocks the bullet with their Rolex/Omega/etc. wrist watch. We may even get a new caseback, "The First Watch That Stops Bullets".

btw - if this has already been done in a movie, let us know where, I'd get a hoot out of seeing it.

Very sad situation. London and Birmingham follow this trend and it is not very safe to flex a Rolex or AP.

I've seen documentary recently ( in french ) about this rising trend of mugging expensive timepieces. At 09:53, the guy had this new idea of training dogs specifically against potential muggers! I find the idea quite cool and apparently there's an increasing demand for these 30k CHF companions. What a time to be alive!

Here's the link

Office is in the crossroads of homeless/fentanyl fiends, never think about what I am wearing. Most of the homeless drug fiends don’t know what planet they are on, so I feel rather confident with Omega.

I’m in the same boat i people try to sell me fentanyl I just keep walking. However I was very perturbed when I found a 73 year old gentleman I recently placed, nice apartment so/so area was mugged for his wallet and they took a very inexpensive rakata I gave him as a little going away present. They tried knocking him to the ground, the poor guy did flooring all his life his legs and hips are shot. I think there were three assailants I usually find if it’s just one they are punks and run off but three gets that group mentality going. Bunch of punks goin after a half disabled elderly guy. I guess they took the watch for easy pickings. I actually liked it black dial mechanical. I know it’s going to mess him up they took his ID, bank card where his cash benefits are put on and food stamp card. I told him you gotta put a cheap wallet with 5-10 bucks in it and hide the good stuff I hate to say it but that chonic drug use makes these roving gangs animalistic not smart organized robbery. I did have a couple people get beat down as they had no money to turn over which I know happens but I get a lot of BS stories as well.

It’s just a sad state of affairs seeing how we treat each other but that 72 year old guy getting robbed kinda bothered me all week. Him losing 500 bucks on a fixed income is of greater impact than a well off dude losing an expensive watch. He really liked the watch I gave him that’s gone. I’ll have to figure something out for him. Ah sorry just a rant on the ills of society of which I have no control.

We ought to have a wank thread.

There's a 30 min doc on BBC3 tonight at 9pm about watch stealing gangs. Might be an interesting watch.

Oh, apparently available on iPlayer already: BBC iPlayer - Hunting the Rolex Rippers

Why is Hunting the Rolex Rippers not available in the US?
Due to licensing agreements and regional content rights, Hunting the Rolex Rippers is restricted to UK viewers on BBC iPlayer. These limitations are in place to adhere to copyright regulations.

Possibly because UK residents pay a licence fee and so access is restricted to residents only. Even as a UK licence payer most BBC content is unavailable to residents who are out of the country.
