I had actually made a video on it already and just posted it an hour ago. Absolutely insane story and a shame the bloke good such bad advice.

Thanks Ash - in this instance I don’t feel sympathy for the seller. To list it on eBay for $55k when a simple search of sold items would clearly show that this was a nonsense price … simply doesn’t make sense. I offered him $40k (simply to see how he’s respond) and he replied by saying “can you do 45,000?”. On eBay since 2003 and I’ve never come across anything as ludicrous. The seller himself is on eBay since 2005 so he’s not a “newbie”.

Yea that makes me a lot less sympathetic to the guy, I figured he might have just believed the “expert” he’d spoken to and not done any research but at this point it sounds more like he’s just wilfully blind as he smells a payday.

Have to say the YouTube commenters are the most braindead I’ve ever come across, makes me thankful I spend most of my time here and rarely have to reply.

On the video above, I don’t know how an Omega hurt Barry but he’s really passionate for some reason

You now need to change your moniker to Fanboy. It is a fact 🤣

This one is mind blowing …

Pretty sure there was one of these listed on Timeanagram in Japan for about 3.5k last year.

I think this is the same watch that was on time anagram. They've used a pic from there on their listing

Oh yeah, good spot! So he’s essentially bought it from them paid the vat and is now trying to flog it for more than double the price. Crazy …

Reading the description too, it's total pie in the sky. Museum grade collector piece. But nothing to show any sort of provence.
And seems to be a random box chucked in too (think it's mentioned on the listing it would have come with a red box)
Worst of it is, I think they'll manage to sell it. Maybe not for 10k, but they'll at the very least break even. Vintage watch market here is baffling at times.

I thought that about the box!

Oh dear, I really hope not. There’s a reason it sat on Timeanagram for so long… thing is with the globemasters, they’re not even as attractive as their constellation siblings!

You all realize that this is a frankenwatch to begin with, right?

2nd generation Globemaster dials like that went with standard cal. 501 non-chronometer movements and US made gold-filled cases. I’m actually surprised that the dial fit a Ref. 2852 case.

That’s disappointing especially if it did come from Timeanagram. I thought they were reputable. That being said I don’t know many people who know much about these globemasters. Can’t say I’ve ever researched them.

Thanks for the info @gatorcpa!

This is ad have been posted for many years in Norway, as far as I know nobody have bought it, but it have been a source of laughter for as many years.

Translation:
1963 Omega Seamaster Tachymetre Chronostop. Steel case. In UNIQLY good condition. Specialist watchmaker has set the value to £ 70-9000 - today, but it will increase proportionally in price the next 2-3 years. Maybe approximately £15000 - 30000 in 2025-2026. Unique condition and quality and rare already today.

Have belonged to real fighter pilot.

Just cleaned and looked over by specialist watchmaker.

Posting it now to gauge interest!

This Seamaster has already CULT status, when it ” takes off”, the sky is the limit.
