Winding my 60s Seamaster 600

Hello, I recently got a 60s seamaster 600 and when winding clockwise, it feels very stiff. But it looks like I am able to wind counterclockwise as well and it is buttery smooth. So I wanted to ask if anyone knows if this movement (the caliber 601 i believe) can be wound both ways without damaging the movement.

Winding clockwise winds the movement, counter-clockwise does not so it will always be less effort

Clockwise winds the watch spring.
Counter clockwise does not.

The crown can be turned in both directions without damaging the movement. 😁

Clockwise winds the mainspring, it will stop winding when it is fully wound, counterclockwise will wind for infinity since is isn't actually winding anything.

Don't freak out at the resistance you'll know its fully wound when it stops winding and you'd probably need a pair of pliers to wind it with enough force to break anything.
