Hi, I find myself in need of a dress watch and am considering a NEAR MINT Vintage OMEGA Seamaster 600 Cal.611 Manual Winding Gold Mens Watch from tanaka_h_japan. I am concerned that the back case is not genuine (something about the As in SEAMASTER. I have little experience with Omegas and my daily wear is a steel Rolex but I will pounce if this one is real (see link) so I ask this forum for its expertise. I would be grateful for any advice and already checked the recommended eBay watches for sale but this one is the one which suits my needs and sense of aesthetics if it is real.

Genuine gold plated Omega Seamaster 600 136.011.
It may have been a presentation watch so that could be why the caseback looks like it's been machined.

It all looks fine. I agree with Jim that the caseback has likely been refinished which is why it looks slightly different to others.
I鈥檇 also say the dial has some spotting which reduces the attractiveness of the watch. These aren鈥檛 hard to find in good condition so I鈥檇 keep looking

Far from "near mint" and certainly not worth $700, maybe half that particularly with the dial issues.

Personally I don't see any issues with the case back.

Agree on the price too high. I think $500 might be more realistic based upon my current search. Half would be a find indeed.

Thanks. OK will make the guy an offer but yeah. More interested in quality than a few dollars although who wants to overpay.

After all that someone else grabbed it before I could negotiate with Seller. Ah well, there are always more Sea Masters. Please call them out if you see them.

They did you a favor. Avoid gold plated, either go for solid gold, gold capped or stainless. Keep your eyes on the private watch sales section here- nice Seamasters pop up regularly. Some nice ones there now.

If you are looking for Seamaster 600- Look carefully, there is a smaller "mid-size" version only 32.5 mm, which is not always disclosed by sellers. The larger ones are 135.011 (no date) and 136.011 (date). The smaller ones are 135.012 (no date) and 136.012 (date).
And these are hand wind- which some like, but for daily wearer you may prefer automatic- lots of other auto Seamasters to choose from.

Excellent tip. I will am compiling a fact sheet and will take your advice and search for 136.011s. I prefer a winding version.
