Winding 1861 Movement

Strange observation on my 3570.50. I notice that when I wind my watch, every morning, each successive morning gets harder and harder to wind.

However by pulling out the crown as if to set the time and push it back in, it becomes really easy to wind.

I bought it new this past December and even brought it up on the forums that I thought it was in need of a break in period and others said give it time.

So now I feel that it isn't really due to breaking in because by pulling the crown out and pushing it back in, the winding becomes smooth again.

I'm not a watchmaker so I have no plan of opening it up myself to see the parts nor do is there an Omega dealer in this part of the country.

Thanks

Al Archer is probably the best person for an answer on this.

My 1861 is easy to wind and I havent encountered the problem you describe but it sort of sounds like the crown stem seal is not correctly fitted, hopefully Al can give you an answer

Let me get the crystal ball out....it's a Bergeon one so it was really expensive, but like any modern Bergeon tool the modern versions are not as good quality as the vintage crystal balls were....

Okay firing it up....looks like more Fomblin grease is needed on the case tube. When you are pulling the crown out and pushing it back in, you are likely spreading what grease is there over the tube, so it becomes easier to wind. That's all the crystal ball is offfering. To give you anything more concrete I would have to see the watch in person.

Cheers, Al

This is why it is best to have experienced professionals with the proper tools work on your watch.
