The speedy isnt a dive watch, lets not make it one.

50m is fine for getting caught in a downpour, taking a shower, casual dips in the pool, etc.
I agree, the speedy doesn’t need a screw down crown and pushers…

However, as long as the watch is maintained, 50m wr covers far more than just being caught out in the rain and casual dips in a pool 😉

Fair but I'm with GrussGott on preferring some headroom with that WR, mainly because I don't regularly get my watches pressure tested or serviced.

There isn’t more “headroom” on a dive watch that you don’t maintain/service.

I've got zero statistical data or proof on how WR on a watch deteriorates over time. Maybe "headroom" is the wrong idea, I'm just operating on my own feelings and assumptions.

Rain, wet conditions, casual dips in the pool: I'll take any of my watches that are not on a leather strap
Any actual water activities (beach, water park, etc): dive watch that was either recently purchased or serviced. no watch at all if all I have are watches that haven't been tested/serviced in over a year
Sporting activities that can involve any sort of arm flailing or me falling on my ass, wet or not: no watch

This is getting off topic anyway, I stand by my original point that the speedy is fine with 50m WR and no screw down anything. Leave it alone.

I'll make a prediction.....there will be a lot less takeup of this watch than people are implying. Let's see how many people actually go out and pull the trigger on whatever the final product turns out to be.

I'm real curious to see the result of this. Maybe they're just hoping to ride the hype of the Snoopy 50th. Maybe this will "replace" the Snoopy too. Maybe its actually something interesting.

I'm hoping its actually something interesting. Omega did a pretty good job with the Bond 60th in terms of keeping the front plain while hiding the special "nods" to Bond and implementing changes people have wanted (smaller wave pattern).

How do we get people to buy a new Speedmaster?

1. No other Speedmaster, buy 3861.

2. Aready Own 1861, Don't buy 3861.

3. Already Own 861 but no 1861, maybe buy 3861.

4. Already Own 861 and 1861, don't buy 3861.

5. Already Own 3861, don't buy another 3861.

New White dial 3861 Speedmaster, all these owners become likely buyers of new 3861 Speedmasters.

But if I had to make a prediction, Evitzee is probably right. There'll be a lot more interest than people throwing down money.

Still, it's a smart move by Omega, as long as it's steel and not more PM.

@pdxleaf You missed another option, buy a moonSwatch with white dial and move on. And save a bunch of money.

Heck, I’m interested in one if it’s white dial with sub dials. It would go good with my Snoopy but then again I like white dials.

The 321 is my current priority but once I get the call for that I a white dial would be needed to sit alongside.

Fifty bucks says they ruin the dial by printing the date of the first time an astronaut wore a spacesuit in a fitting session in a pool in Texas while his Corvette was having an oil change and it was the third Thursday before a new moon.

If they even make it.

Doubt it. OBs across the world wouldn’t be taking names if it was a París LE

I told my OB I want one. They said they can make it happen as soon as they find out what it is and when it will released. No one knows yet though. I have faith in my SA at the OB as he came through for my 321 in 6 months and my Snoopy in just under a year.
