Will We Finally See A New White-Dial Speedmaster Professional Soon?

The purists would like hesalite with a solid back, but would be ok with a sapphire back. But Omega really doesn't want to do plastic crystals on $8k+ watches anymore, it'll be sapphire front and back.

Did you just assertedly speculate? 😜

(I agree though)

Hey, I'm not really interested in this white dial Speedmaster, but I'm playing along for entertainment, and speculation is all we have to work with. I thought those who read something into the Christmas email really jumped the shark.

It went that way, officer--- and it was HUGE!

And-- honestly, same. You and I discussed what we find attractive in a white dial, and this ain't it. But it sure is fun to feed the uh... interest!

Agreed with both. Most likely sapphire on front. Not sure on the back though, cause they could be doing some kind of engraved metal case back, but it'll either be that or sapphire.

Also not really interested in buying this, but wondering just what will make it "special" and if that would change my mind.

I’ve heard some information about this but won’t share, out of respect for the person who told me. Naturally, only time will tell if the info is correct!

I’m interested in purchasing - as someone who doesn’t own a 3861 Speedmaster.

How do you know that? I hope it is for the health of everyone saying they are ready to throw money at Omega for the watch, but NOTHING has been confirmed about any of the details. It all depends on what Omega thinks is best for their bottom line and where they want to take the Omega Speedmaster line. Recent history would cast doubt on it automatically being steel.

For what it’s worth - OB has told me it’s steel. The polished links on the bracket indicate steel. Canopus gold bracelet links are brushed. Also, from a sheer sales perspective - why release it in precious metal when you already have the Canopus version? Doesn’t make sense.

Eh, I've already got a solid caseback, hesalite 1861 with my Tin Tin. The next Speedy I buy, I'd be fine with it being a sapphire sammy, especially with a non-traditional dial. I feel like a purist is going to go for the plain black dial anyway.

NASA just postponed the Artemis missions. Artemis 2 is now scheduled for September 2025 and Artemis 3 for September 2026. So if this is going to be the "new moonwatch" and is going to be produced in smaller numbers like the Snoopy more people will be able to get one before it actually is worn on the moon.

If it really is tied with that mission I’d agree. Delayed premiere of the NTTD movie didn’t stop them from releasing the NTTD

Artemis is probably going to be more delayed. Starship keeps exploding and that needs to prove it works before we can even talk about a landing date. I saw Artemis I launch...thankfully I went the day (night) it went up and not the prior scrubbed launches. It was delayed 1+ hr when I saw it and they said on radio it had visibly loose bolts on the refueling connection or something...not inspiring confidence. We were also let down by how quiet the rocket was. Way quieter than the shuttle as we were expecting the delayed booster sounds like the shuttle. We found out afterwards the sound suppression system was upgraded to reduce damage to the pad and also lessens sound. It's no Apollo or shuttle...

Pic I took of it.

Great pic. The old Saturn V rockets were spectacular in their noise levels, the newer designs are quieter.
