Correct, I also noticed after my post that the standard SMP has red lettering. Sorry for that.
The old 1957 Coax models have red accents on the dial. For example 321.10.42.50.02.001 or
321.12.42.50.01.001.

The only professional models i know are the Apollo 11 35th, Apollo 17 45th editions and the Tokyo 2020s. Are there any other LEs?

Your indication could be correct, but i hope it's a standard model.

It's not consistent, especially the further back in time you go. The Italian albino dial, for example, was essentialky the first "modern" limited edition, and there was no red on the dial. But in addition to the examples here I can immediately think of the Gemini 4, Apollo 50th, and the July 1969 white dial (Apollo 11 35th Anni?) You already named some of these so we have some overlap.

Just confirmed with OB Beverly Hills that the white dial is coming, but she said internally that they have zero comms from Switzerland on any further details. They don't know if it will be LE or not. But it is coming some time this year...

Red text aside, what could be the story that justifies it being limited? I’ve heard the new Artemis mission, but not so sure

Artemis II launches in November. That’s probably it.

Okay, my guess is it could be part of a limited production “Winter Collection” like the light blue summer collection Seamaster.
OBs take preorders for a certain period of time and then stop production when they hit the preorder allotment. Not a limited edition exactly, which I think they said they weren’t doing much anymore, but similar.

It's ALL conjecture. No time line, no idea if it is limited or not, or if it's related to Olympics or Artemis or something else. We don't even know if it's steel, gold, platinum or unobtanium, everybody says it has to be steel but there is no assurance of that. Some OB's say it is coming but they know nothing else. Other than a couple of in-the-wild press pics from Omega we know nothing else. It's genius marketing, Omega spends nothing and gets tons of free press. And it's an interesting story for Omega aficionados, as every Tuesday rolls around the hype builds, 'will today be the day?', and then the day comes and goes. This could go on for months, there are many Tuesdays to come, and there is no assurance it will be dropped on a Tuesday anyway.

Okay, but an unobtanium watch would be really cool

This makes the most sense in a weird way. Omega is moving away from limited count and to limited duration... and the summer blue was... summery. Hard to explain astronauts playing in the snow... unless it's Olympics, but that's far enough out it doesn't make sense to me

Yes, it would.

There is already and unobtainium with the canapous gold model. I love it - but am not dropping 50k for it. This is gonna be steel.

How do you know that? I hope it is for the health of everyone saying they are ready to throw money at Omega for the watch, but NOTHING has been confirmed about any of the details. It all depends on what Omega thinks is best for their bottom line and where they want to take the Omega Speedmaster line. Recent history would cast doubt on it automatically being steel.

Different person here, but I recall my OB contact telling me it was steel. But it’s been a couple months now so I could be misremembering.

Artemis theme would be cool. My dogs are named Apollo and Artemis so that would mean I’d have to get each of them their own Speedies at some point

I stopped by the OB in my area, that is not owned by Swatch, and inquired about the white dial Speedmaster last week. The owner did not have any specific details on the watch but he expected it to be somewhat limited initially. He had already started a list so I had him add me to it.

Just curious as to what people would prefer. Hesalite? Hesalite with a display back? Sapphire with a display back?

I still think people are leaning on the red astronauts in the snow too much. I don't really see a connection and I didn't take that last end of year email to be a teaser for this watch. Snow for winter, astronauts cause thats practically Omega's mascot, and red cause its Christmas and Omega's color.

Also if we start looking at Speedmasters outside of the moonwatch, there are more examples of regular production watches with red text like the GSOTM.

But I do still think it'll be limited or special in some way. Thats what Omega told me at Planet Omega anyways. It'll be special and I'll know more "in two months" (which would be now, January).

Hesalite with display back is the way.

Completely agree with this. Just seemed like a regular marketing email to me. I think people are really grasping at straws on that one.

The purists would like hesalite with a solid back, but would be ok with a sapphire back. But Omega really doesn't want to do plastic crystals on $8k+ watches anymore, the last hesalite 'special' watch was probably ST2 (Ultraman) and that was 2018. It'll be sapphire front and back.
