That is just Philly -- and really any big city now. Doesn't take much for the lawlessness to spread like wildfire when left unchecked.
My aunt lived in Oakland 25 years ago and had her window smashed 1/2 dozen times with nothing in the car. She finally decided to leave the car unlocked with a note on the window that said- unlocked, nothing in it. She never had a broken window again.

Our company cars used to get broken into regularly. We started leaving the driver-side door unlocked on each vehicle so they would stop breaking windows. All they could steal were Shell gas cards.

'Watch' content to please @gbesq : There was no one at our office to watch the cars at night. And on clear nights the thieves could see the constellations. I don't think they understood what they were doing was a Sinn... 馃槣

For whatever reason, the would be joyriders decided to leave his car and take another Kia parked down the street.
I recently learned from my in-laws there is a Tik-Tok challenge that encourages people to break in and steal Hyundai鈥檚 and Kia鈥檚. It started last year but is still lingering. My in-laws have two Hyundai鈥檚 and there are several more Hyundai鈥檚 and Kia鈥檚 on their street and all were recently broken into.

Oh it's a huge problem. You can start the cars by plugging the end of a USB cable onto a little stub in the dash apparently. Really dumb

Yep we know all about it. That鈥檚 what JW was referring to in his post. Kia finally has a software fix that will disable the starter motor so the cars can no longer be started by breaking into the steering column and ignition switch.
