In the 12th year of my watch collecting journey, I was finally ready for the PloProf 1200. I had seen one window shopping before I got serious in collecting watches. “Wow, what a badass hunk of steel!” But the pice tag was beyond my imagination of what I was willing to spend on a watch back then. I was proudly wearing quartz Seiko’s and Diesels at the time.

Fast forward to the present day. The PloProf joined my collection a month ago. It is by far the heaviest chunk of steel. An outlier. A shield, weapon and space ship. & I love it to bits. When I am wearing it, it feels so badass. Hoody or suit jacket, the PloProf is on my wrist.

In the past weeks I discovered Why the PloProf looks so good on the wrist & Why it wears so comfortable on the wrist.

WHY THE PLOPROF WEARS LIKE A DREAM

There are no lugs

So you can still see your wrist around the watch case.
Even with my 16cm wrist, it looks great

The bracelet hugs your wrist immediately
It has got all the freedom to move and drop down to line up against your wrist.
Notice the 90 degree angle with the case.

The perfect fit thanks to the on the fly adjustable clasp
You can adjust the fit of the bracelet per mm while wearing the PlopProf, simply by squeezing the bracelet into the clasp.
It can extend up to a whopping 22mm. And if that won’t make it fit over your (wetsuit) sleeve, there is the divers extension

There are no sharp edges touching your wrist
Every part of the case that touches your wrist is bevelled or softly rounded.
Even if you bend your hand upwards as far as you can go, nothing is cutting into your wrist or hand.

WHY THE PLOPROF LOOKS SO GOOD ON THE WRIST
Besides having no lugs and that
the design is perfectly balanced
the below details make this chunk of steel a beautiful work of art

Thank you for reading & enjoy the superb views!

The glossy look of the saffier bezel

The most robust yet beautiful crown(jewel) protector

Beautiful play of lines, bevels and curves

Like a detail of a drawbridge

On the opposite side of the crown protector, the case is angled, making it look more slender/refined

Detailed glossy domed helium valve

The cloudy blue sky reflecting in the valve

Pine cone guilloché

BONUS EASTER EGGS

Bonus functionality: When I take it off, it becomes a desk clock!

Bonus style points: #Agnellistyle is possible, thanks to the on the fly micro adjust

Thanks KC, I’m afraid I now need one in my collection too… Costly start of the year, that would be. 😅

Great quality pictures, by the way. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks buddy! That’s what we’re all here for; enable each other to buy more watches 😇

Waow. It definitely looks super cool. How did you take such nice pictures?
Thx Luke! It’s great gear combined with my photographic curious eye + soft lighting

The gear
The normal ones are made with an old DSLR and for the macro shots I used ‘The loupe system’ (best eye loupe available with minimal distortion) connected to my iPhone Pro 17.

Soft lighting
A cloudy day & a white sweater (as a light reflector)

You weren't asking me, but I'd love to 😀

Been known to go "Agnelli" myself. It drives my buddies crazy, making it much more enjoyable 😉

I'm sure I speak for all owners when I say it looks good on any strap/bracelet.

Hahaha! Thx for showing your vintage PloProf strap/sleeve combo styles!
Question: Is that a fabric strap?
I ordered the black OEM vintage strap as it looks so comfy and doesn’t need any cutting. Can’t wait to pick it up at the AD.

Style wise: I love wearing mine on double denim

And funky skateboarding sneakers (while I never skate or dive)

Yes, it is a single pass (ZULU style) strap, but I also use NATO type. I think I bought a bunch of Matratac straps. Easy money and they look good. You do have to remove the spring bars to install the strap due to the strap thickness. Also, don't scrimp on spring bars. Go to the source. OEM bars are light years ahead of anything else I've found, and I have hundreds of aftermarket bars. Here are a couple more snaps:

I really, really wish I could love the PloProf. From an external aesthetic, I do. I think it's a good little thing to sit on the desk, on display, etc. but on the wrist... I just don't like how it fits, sits and feels. But, I am really glad that many others do love it. Enjoy it, @friendscallmeKC!

Ploprof is amazing. I bought the steel modern Ploprof about 10 years ago. Then a bought a vintage shortly after. Most underrated Omega watch. The steel Ploprof is my go-to on vacation. Wearing it this week.
