Why isn’t the Railmaster getting more love?

Beat me to it but now I don’t have to type as much LOL
I lust after the Railmaster even now that I’ve acquired it. Explorer? Couldn’t care less about that watch. Yawn.

Especially the superiority of the movement!
All the other differences are a matter of preference.
Personally I regard the railmaster as a superior watch but having owned both I am biased

You are comparing the 39mm not the original 36mm, correct?
    Cheers

Something the Rolex Explorer owner will have to endure that you will never hear with a Railmaster: “is it real mate?” Can I offer you another one of my photos to help decide?

The new RM's are just flat out a bit boring...IMO

And the faux patina looks terrible. I personally like the cross hair's and full brushed bracelet.

I haven’t been able to forget about the Railmaster since the initial release, this thread has just peaked my interest again so I just dropped into my local Fraser Hart to enquire about the watch mentioned earlier in this thread. Weirdly a few seconds after me another guy showed up enquiring about it, the manager looked pretty confused! They have one left in the company and should be in the store in a few days. Really intrigued to see if it’s all as it should be, the discount makes super tempting.

After wearing my 60th RM for five days on vacation, I got caught in a rainstorm while on a boat fishing. Next day I noticed condensation on the inside of the crystal. Pretty annoyed/unhappy/pissed. Now I’ll be dropping it off at the west coast service center near my house tomorrow. It’s obviously under warranty and I expect it to be rectified fully but I’m bummed. Who knows how long I’ll be without it now SMFH

EDIT: Just dropped it off at Swatch service center in L.A.
As expected, the bummer is that I was told they are running 4-6 weeks out at the moment, though they also told me warranty work does take somewhat of a priority. So maybe I'll get it back sooner, but I'm not counting on it. Ah well, at the end of the day it's just a watch. My Speedy Pro will enjoy not having to share the wrist time with the Railmaster.

Omega Railmaster is amazing - a true chameleon depends on the light (black, brown, blue...) Contrary to most opinions the watch is not big at all, see it on my 7 inch wrist

I think it's the lack of history or X factor. It'd be more popular if it was worn by some historical figure.

Indeed. If Isambard Kingdom Brunel wore/designed/built one, it’d be a match for the Explorer. Instead - Presley Gerber!

Its a great watch, on initial glance it might not standout from the pack but its actually quite a special piece, its also Very comfortable, this bias towards faux patina really has distracted from this iteration of the railmaster, furthermore, since its not very popular it can be gotten at a bargain.

True enough. I like a lot about the piece, especially the solidity of the brushed case and the crown, and would have pulled the trigger for sure on a white/black model closer to the previous-gen. Ended up with an IWC Spitfire Auto but could easily have gone Railmaster. It's a fine, under the radar all-rounder and wears really well.

Great comparison. I also wish there was a rendition of the Railmaster with applied dial features (like the latest Explorer 214270): signatures, hour indexes, 3/6/9, etc.

I know it’s not the tradition of the watch, but the modern Railmaster references are a bit too utilitarian and bland for me. I love the 214270 Mk 2 and I love OMEGA, yet I can’t see myself wearing a Railmaster without a tiny bit of “sprucing up” (though that 60th anniversary is otherwise amazing).

Anyone know if a micro adjust clasp can be retrofitted on the new non LE version?

No it can't as both watches have different size specifications.

the watches are different but the bracelet has the same size (18mm) at the clasp. I was wondering the same thing - anyone must the have the answer :)

When it came out I desperately wanted one! Then, I tried it on and for me, it was too big, thick. Then went to check out the BBay 58 and bam, perfect size.

That is simply a phony statement, BB 58 is 11,9 mm thick versus Railmaster 12mm, essentially the same... Same story with the cases BB58 is 39mm and Railmaster is 39.5mm measured (40mm official...)

Exsctly at 40mm and 12mm thickness the modern railmaster is one of Omegas smaller mens offerings.
