Why is there a waiting list for the Speedmaster Hesalite?

Sorry, another thread from the noob :banghead:

I'm just excited to join the Omega family.

I notice that on the Omega website, if you try to purchase a Speedy Hesalite on bracelet, it says it is not currently available and you must join a waitlist.

Doesn't say this for the hesalite on leather or the saphire on bracelet

Any thoughts??

Backordered I guess.
Do you think that has anything to do with the "update" that some people are talking about will happen to the speedy soon?

No way to know, these rumors are always going around.

There might be some production issues as well due to Covid-19 lockdown. They will take time to be normal again.

Oh okay.
Don’t mean to sound like a snob, but for two years I’ve been more into Rolex than anything else.

With Rolex people always talk about what’s getting discontinued, and you quickly realize that it’s a guessing game.

As a new member to omega, I didn’t realize it’s the same thing.

thanks for sharing that though!

Not quite the same thing. I’m neither Rolex nor Omega fan, I’ve had plenty of both and other brands. This said there is little comparison between Rolex and Omega when it comes to how they approach releases and discontinued models.

we all just have to be patient and accept the world and businesses don’t revolve around our whims.

That happens occasionally on the Omega website for all the models, and it often varies from country to country. For example, the Speedmaster Pro might not be available on the US Omega Site, but it is on the UK site. That notices has nothing to do with if it is available in stock at ADs or at physical boutique locations, merely if any are available by mail order from the e-commerce division.

Those notices mean nothing.

Only when it says “This item is no longer available” can you interpret it as meaning the item has been discontinued.

Of course, non of this info will stop the speculation. 😀

When I called my AD about it, the manager said they are on waiting list from Omega and currently hard to find. I thought it was it was just a sales speech, that’s when I looked on the Omega website and saw what I mentioned at the start of the thread.

It took the manager about an hour or two to find me a watch.

So who knows?

Loads of people buying pre-price increase as well as the possibility it might be phased out for the new movement.

It's all speculation, no one has any definitive information as to what Omega's plans are for the 1861 based Speedmaster in either Hesalite or Sapphire. Indications are it will be phased out later this year, but no one knows for sure. We will know what the future is when Omega tells us, not before.

Rest assured, there's no way the hesalite is unavailable due to excess demand. If it's unav at your store, try others. If everything is out, then they are switching something up soon. I don't see them ever limiting that watch. It's their bread and butter. They'll keep cranking them out whether you want them or not bc... space
