While I don't know what you consider a hazardous environment or nice watch, my watch stays on wrist while I am doing manual labour. But then again I don't have "nice" watches, just speedmaster, seamaster, couple Hamiltons, Oris, Explorer II.
Anyone would consider those nice

I just recently learned of this phenomenon if not offending the supervisor at work with a nicer timepiece. Never had an office job only public safety and healthcare to reference and there have always been doctors or fire chiefs with no one ever criticizing anyone about how they spend their salary. Especially not knowing if it was inherited or a lifelong investment to own the watch or jewelry.

Good point. If your bosses think you're being paid too much, you won't get that raise when you ask for one 馃榿

I do! I wear my Seamaster all the time. I wash it regularly and remove welding spatter occasionally. I use it for motorcycling, boating and maintenance of cars, boats and motorcycles. I even cut the grass wearing it!

And do the dishes!
