I wore a Seiko daily for over 30 years, including all the days we were out in the field inspecting building exteriors, cutting into roofs, chipping out small areas of concrete, etc. It was an expensive quartz at the time my parents bought if for me ~1983 ($350 or so). Cracked the crystal a few times, wore off a lot of the black coating, etc. Had it serviced a few times, but mostly just batter replacement. Only stopped wearing it because the bracelet broke (sone left it on an oriental rug, and I did not see it and stepped on it). I took about 2 years off from wearing a watch, and then bought a Sinn UX, which I wore daily at work. Once I got into Omegas I would only wear the Sinn on days I knew I would be out in the field. Than about 2 years ago I got a Nivada Grenchen CASD reissue, and that has become my watch on days when I will be on job sites.
As far as any of them being 'nice', I don't think they fit the bill for average OFers. The most expensive was less than $2,500. But to the 'normal' people of the world I think even the Seiko I wore all those years is a 'nice watch'.
