I have an old Turtle Certina DS that I really like, it is my father's old watch.

It's now been over 6 years and every time this thread title pops up in the 'Latest' list I can't help but wonder whether the World Health Organization actually does like Certinas

Right, I've given up trying to figure this out.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/26678455...Uv0qJ6oStq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

A beautiful dial and watch, but seller looks very suspect. Got me thinking, what am I actually looking at?

I can only find the exact same dial on a couple divers. It seems otherwise there should be a T underneath the DS or dots above the numbered indices. Additionally the coloured hand is not featured on any of the red cross DS's, these are more Argonauts etc. plus the hands are typically a bit more chunky.

Is this just a very beautiful Frankenstein? Or have a gone raving mad and it's perfectly legit.

What are your thoughts on this Certina gang?

Edit* oh just going back through the previous pages others research suggests a rehoused dial maybe. It looks pristine mind.

It looks like the watch is made up from spare parts.
The caseback reference is for a DS2 so it doesn't match the dial or rest of the case

As per above, I believe so as well.
The case back is indeed for a DS2, also the orange hand could be, I have such orange hand on my DS2.
I am wary about the pictures, quite dark a lot of glare and not a full front dial shot. That gives disturbance to read for instance how automatic is on the dial and if it's been retouched here or there.
There's a chance as I looked on the website of the seller trying to find more pictures from the ad and found:
Maintenance of vintage watches and other watches
We service vintage watches and all kinds of other watches professionally. We provide you with both a modern wristwatch maintenance package and more challenging originals. We also carry out shell restorations and painting restorations with respect for originality. We have spare parts for old watches in our warehouse, and we always use original parts whenever possible.

The seller definitely doesn't want people to have a good view of the dial and hands!

Random question:

DS-2 is known to feature tons of different dials. But what is the rarest DS-2 dial variant of them all? Obviously nobody probably knows for sure, but any ideas?

Hi Forum Friends!

I found this interesting thread regarding Certina watches, and I wonder if there are some interesting links or threads.
The specific watch that I am trying to learn more about is the lovely diver, PH200M ref 5801-117.
But also other vintage Certina divers.
Looking forward to some nice reading!

Man have been asking myself this question !!
Being a huge DS 2 fan i've bought and sold quite a lot.

I don't know if I know which one is the rarest, but i can tell you which ones are sold the highest. In my humble opinion it would have to be ;
1. Green Fumé for sure (careful there are at least 5 to 6 different kinds of green)
Followed by "Any kinda green"
2. Sector Dial (the light and dark blue one, not the white and blue one)
3. Red fumé (not the plain red)
And #4 i'd say Blue (fumé or dark blue)....again there are so many color just for the blue i can't say i know the names of the colors

There should be a thread just to count all the colors ^^

I'd say there are at least 50 different ones.

Tbh i'm looking for my "perfect DS2 collection" which is only a 3 DS-2 collection :
Blue (but which one would you ask...), Red Fumé and Green Fumé. I think DS 2 are fun and are made to "pop out".
Also my perfect 3 DS-2 collection has to be all on the Jubilee 6025

At the moment I have this amazing Red Fumé Dial. The dial is simply amazing and the case is one of the first ones i saw unpolished (which is very rare...).
The Blue one should come out from the watch maker pretty soon, i'll share it with you guys 😜
And I also have this nice Green...but not the one i'm looking for...hence i'm selling it after many years of good service

What about you guys, what's your favorite DS 2 dial color 😜 ?

Adding to @Frenchdude87 's list of rare dials:

- Red fumé no-date. Compared to date versions these are very rare; I've only seen 5 specimens.

RedDS2servicednodateman5.jpg

- "Petroleum" fumé is also quite rare:

Of all the colors, I would say red fumé and basic black with white step are my favorites. Here's my black dial DS-2, serviced and in regular use 😀

I have this one on original bracelet: pnZVdR5Tj
It's a lovely watch! Amazing how close some of the design elements are to my 165.024
did they share the same designers??
