Beautiful watch. Simple, wonderful.

I have always wondered, are these blue hands we see perfectly original? For a 1960-1970s watch it seems (to my uneducated mind) strange to think that this was fashionable among the populace. I don't know why. It just seems so... odd.

I say this knowing the incredible bursts of colour we see on the argonauts and such.

I aspire to purchase one myself.

A number of Certinas from the sixties have these. I am not certain they are heat blued, I believe it is a blue lacquer.

I'm pretty sure my Bristol uses blue lacquer instead of heat blued hands. The tone looks somewhat unnatural and not the rich, deep blue typical of bluing.

I have added a fair number of Certinas to the collection recently... Many are pretty unassuming, but I really have a soft spot for this brand. A number of the more special references (amagnetics in particular...) seem to be completely absent from the market the last year or so, which is why I have mostly added non-DS models or more pedestrian DS versions.

Here are a few highlights:

Wonderful center seconds variant of the ref 8946.1, of which I already owned the sub-seconds version:

A DS-3 PH200M Quartz in the unusual Certina yellow dial colour, which is probably as close as you can come to Zenith's "Mango" Rainbow El Primero. This one arrived a week and a half ago and has been on the wrist almost every day since that. The case type resembles the ones used by Omega in the seventies for the flightmaster and some of the divers and is a lot smaller in reality than in photos. Wears wonderfully. Here alongside a DS-2 PH1000M and a (non-DS) PH100M in the same dial colour. The PH100M is another recent addition - had to complete the set!

Those are great 👍

I have a fairly large number of Certina divers, but hadn't thought I'd add a DS-3 PH200M until I saw this one. The yellow dial and GF bracelet won me over in spite of the worn case. It was used by a recreational diver who went on to wear it as an everyday wearer.

Hey guys,

Been a recent aficionado of that lovely brand, I am now looking to add a second Vintage Certina to my collection. Not one as expensive as my first and now favorite of mine Ds Ph200m...

My eyes are now leaning towards a DS-2 in good conditon. Dial : Blue, Red, Green or that lovery Blue and White dial. Now I'd like to shaere something I saw on my recent hunt.

I was bidding on a known site for a lovely DS 2 with blue dial (unfortunately without genuine bracelet). I was thinking about putting at max 200/250€ for that watch.

How amazed was I when my 240€ bid was litteraly wiped out but by two bidder who reached the price of....500€ (w/out shippping and bidding fees)

What are you thought on that, and how much do you think one should spend for a DS 2 in decent condition ?

@Frenchdude87 - wonderful PH200M! I am waiting for one to arrive nexr week, looking forward to handling it 😀

€500 for a DS-2 is completely ga-ga. Last week I found a red dial, automatic DS-2 with the correct bracelet and in really great condition for €180... Granted, that was an outlier, but they shouldn't cost a lot more. I bought this one alongside another two watches for €170 recently:

DS-2s are cheap, sometimes you can get them around 100€ at auction. I paid 350€ for my black dial one (posted couple pages back) and I thought I was crazy shelling out that kind of money but the condition mesmerized me. So 500€ for a DS-2 is way too much.

@ConElPueblo No more teasing, let's see that red dial DS-2! (and all your other recent arrivals) 😀

All right thanks guys 👍 always good to have some benchmarks ideas so as not to make a stupid and impulsive decision ::psy::

Btw, the auction site that sold the red DS2 there's a green one that is going even crazier by the minute. I'll keep you informed of the sold price ahaha

And that green DS-2 is a redial. It is stated in the description. Plus the watch has been polished to death. And the bid is over 200€ already with two more days to go. I refuse to believe there is actual demand for a watch like this. I smell shill bidding.

No, it's an ordinary man's version. It must be my manly man hands that make it look small 😁

I went through my stuff last week and I have five bracelets, two of them have diver end links.

Those dials are just stunning. I am still amazed how underrated they are....

Here are my two vintage Certina's. The blue dial ones is virtually unused and has the protective lacquer on the case back. The brown dial one shows signs of heavy use, but the dial is beautifully preserved.
Best,
Stefan

Purchased a new bracelet. I think DS with Forstner BoR looks quite nice.
I thought that was a nice pairing, so I picked one up myself. I'll have to keep an eye out for some of the original bracelets.
