Thanks a lot! I already knew vintageceetinas.ch but had never seen that Finnish site! 😁
I’m having a hard time finding if this dial is legit for a DS1 with a 25-45 movement. The lume looks legit (hands are definitely relumed though) but I can’t find a similar example of a dial like this, kind of matte with an underline between certina and automatic.
Any thoughts? 😀
Thanks again!

Unfortunately redialed for sure.

Obvious tells are there, but specifically, look at the spacing of the minute markers on each side of the hour markers. For example, big gap on the right side of "6" and smaller on the left side.

Still nice, but not original.

Beautiful. Can the quality be beaten at the price point? I'm unsure.
Nope. These and Eterna Kontikis are the new Omega Seamasters. Get 'em while you can before the rest of the world realizes what's up!

Sir, that constitutes incitement to collect!

I own a DS and now I have my eye on a black dial DS-2...

If you are looking for an obvious tell, the "Certina ------- Automatic" on the upper dial part (as mentioned by Dsplash) is completely wrong; no DS has this design, only older, non-DS looks like that.

I was wondering if someone could help me with my questions (Certina Ds related, obviously )

I stumbled on this old eBay listing…

https://www.ebay.fr/itm/Montre-Vint...p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0
https://www.ebay.fr/itm/Montre-Vint...p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0

… and I wonder: what’s the difference between the 5601 012 and the 5601 112? Case width? Movement? Are both (parent pending”? Is it possible for a 5601 012 to have a 25-65 movement like the eBay one or is it a put together watch? I’ve noticed that there are a lot of put together watches and mostly are easy to spot but I struggle to see the differences between them.

it’s a gorgeous watch this Certina, anyhow…

The Argonaut was my first Certina, and still gets much wrist-time.

This Argonaut was my first Certina as well. I also liked the idea of the red stitched ribbon.... Regards - HU

Certina family grows. My wife got this 1965 Waterking, caliber 28-10. It's 33mm so a good unisex size by modern standards. Amazing how affordable these are, even in an attractive black/gilt configuration.

5601 012 differs from the 112 in case design. Frustratingly, the early 112 has more or less the same case as the 012, but the majority of 112 have a bulkier case design, which is fairly evident when handling them. I believe the lug distance is a hair wider on the 112 and the later, non-GF bracelets is a better fit, looks-wise too

Thanks for your reply.

regarding the movements: early 112 can have a 25-65 if I guessed correctly whereas 012 have always the 25-45, right? And no matter the reference all the case backs should have patent pending?

Patent pending is only for the earliest production cases and never 112s. I am not sure about the movements, but due to relatively small production batches and a lot of different references as well as the potential for swapped parts, a lot if variation is seen. If a register were put together, I am sure we'd have a better foundation for evaluation.

No luck in the auction with DS-2 🙁 Had to go to my watch box and admire this beauty to cope with my disappointment.

P.S: If you have for sale (in the EU) a black dial DS-2 no-date with T-tritium-T markings, send me a PM.
