    DS-2 PH500M - really a nice watch.
The one you're showing has some issues. I allow myself to show one with the right hands and the right configuration.
This model was available with two different cases and two different configurations (for the other version for example @alinghi74 would have to drop in).

I know and the buyer was fully aware what he would need to do to bring it closer to the original state.
This is why I allowed for a certain discount from my asking price. Both parties ended up being happy with the deal :)

My one and only Certina, and interesting dress watch, with many mysteries. I purchased it last year for around $25 at a flea market. It needed pretty extensive work; a new crystal as the old one was cracked, a new stainless steel crown, a routine service, a new second hand, and a new pivot for the center seconds wheel, which somehow had been damaged (maybe it got damaged when someone tried to pull the seconds hand off). Unfortunately, the finish on the dial flaked off a bit with cleaning, but the text is still intact. It was a fun project for me and my watchmaker, and I had only put around $200 in it when all was said and done. Personally, I was very pleased with how it turned out. Originally, I bought it because I liked the case design. It is super thin, even for a dress watch, and the diameter is quite large for a vintage watch, around 37-38mm. I don't know much about Certina or this watch, but I did know that Certina was a quality, mid-tier watch company that made its own movements. I'm assuming it's from the 1950s or early 60s, and it features a manual wind 17 jewel, in-house cal. 321 movement. It's odd because I haven't seen another cal. 321 with 17 jewels. All the others seem to have 16 jewels. Perhaps someone can shed some light on that.

    I’d take a 50s triple date moonphase chrono with a V 200 mvmt

Probably a case that originally housed a manual wind version. Movement and dial from earlier DS.

At that price, I wouldn’t worry.

    Wear and enjoy.

Glad to know I'm not the only one...

Probably not good to speed buy on ebay in between work conference calls...

    Hello :)
I have this old certina after my grandfather, but unfortunately no knowledge about it.
Seems several of you guys know quite alot about theese watches, so I am wondering if any of you can tell me whatever you know about it? I can't find the exact same anywhere online. 20200422_230027.jpg 20200422_225713.jpg

Certina was one of the first vintage brands I discovered, their old chrono's are nice and they made HEAPS of them. Fun brand to hunt.

    Hi there!

This website will allow you to decode the numbers on the caseback: http://www.vintagecertinas.ch/en/certina-case-movement-and-serial-numbers/

I will refrain from telling you the result, as deciphering stuff like this is part of the fun of the hobby :)

Beautiful watch, great look! It's almost impossible to avoid reflections off that domed crystal...
