Definitely getting used as it was supposed to...

Well, not exactly at the bottom of the sea, but you catch my drift 😁

Try it on a mesh bracelet or rubber.
Have the reissue and wear it a bit for work.

I have a lovely Waterking, I don’t really know why I sold it. I always keep my eye open for 5901 173 Certiday. It is the UFO / S.H.A.D.O. connection.

Picked up this unusually clean Argonaut 280 on Chrono24, out of Turkey. I really like it a lot, it wears great, and scales up or down in terms of formal/sporty.

Very nice result, @Biezmez! Certina really didn't do a very good job on those plated cases. I have yet to see on where there is no flaking of the gold plating 😵‍💫

I run into a lot of chrome plated brass cases on vintage Certinas. Why, oh why would a company produce such great watches, with great movements, and chintz on some of their cases?

I'm a sucker for solid gold and gold plated Certinas and the replating is really well done! Congrats on this stunning piece 👍

I recently rolled the dice on a super-cheap ‘Bag Of Watches from the 1970s’ from an online auction site, as I could vaguely see a Certina dial. Three watches - one a cheap rubbish quartz destined for the bin, another a 25mm dial Consul with an ‘unbreakable mainspring’ (well, it is still keeping good time), and lastly, a turtle!

It’s a DS with a lovely champagne dial, sharp edges and the original lume still in place. I believe it’s a calibre 25-66 as it has the turtle caseback, but I haven’t had a chance to check the movement yet.

It’s currently keeping great time, all I need to decide is what colour strap to go with it. It’s currently on a (what I presume to be original) Silver Maruman FLEX bracelet, but it’s really bland - what colour strap do the good folk of OF think works well with this watch?

(Apologies for the cruddy iPhone photo)

Congrats on the DS 😀

A light brown strap would probably look great. Bear in mind that the lug width is a smidgen more than 18mm, so there will almost certainly be a tiny gap between strap and lugs.

Hi all,

I've discovered the slightly newer (security clasp-)bracelets for myself. They fit well to the DS Automatic, if there is no GF, but as well - a matter of taste - to smaller types. And they are not expensive.

Regards - HU

And this one seems to have given a mother to her son in 1967 - Hilsen fra Mor!

With the power invested in me as a citizen of Denmark, I hereby reclaim this Danish sold watch. I'll forward my address later.

Certina has never been my cup of tea, but there are some very nice deals available right now. The Certina DS Podium auto with a 38mm case, on bracelet, ETA 2824-2, sapphire, and 100m water resistance can be had for a s little as $299. This would make a very nice beater and it has a little Rolex explorer vibe going on. It is tough to find another watch that offers so much for so little.

Hi,

Just bought a DS2 PH200 (ref. 5801-303) without bezel.

As is, it’s pretty much a normal DS2 but on steroids!!! By the way, I’m looking for a bezel for it....

Hi guys, don’t know if this is the right place bu I need some help!!!

Found recently a bezel for my Certina DS2 PH200m watch. I know there’s a ring that goes with the bezel but I don’t have it.

Do you know what’s the function of that ring? To keep the bezel in place or to prevent the bezel rotating freely?

Appreciate your feedback and, if it is posible, a picture of the ring and some measurements (to try to have it custom made).

Thanks!

@ConElPueblo is the resident Certina expert. Perhaps he will chime in with your answer.
