Who knows this watches model?

This watch belonged to my father. It's a gold Omega, which was bought in Brazil, very probably in the 50s or 60s. I've taken it to a jewlery shop and was told it is probably a CAL 285. How can I identify the model?
Thanks!

If you are lucky, the inside caseback of your watch will provide a reference number that matches one of those shown on this advertisement:

To my knowledge these Teddington models were only marketed in Brazil. However, many watches have been repainted to resemble these "red star" watches. The key to knowing if yours is a valid Teddington is the reference number.

I don't see any Omega markings inside, so my guess is that this watch was recased.

The case still could be solid gold. It would need to be tested for purity. Several South American countries including Brazil had very high import fees for gold watch cases in the 1950's.

It was very common for grey market importers to bring in movements and put them in locally made gold cases for sale.

Hope this helps,
