Interior painted and all cleaned up inside for the first time.
Still a bunch of little things but should actually be moving in within the next 2 weeks hopefully!

Also did a little decorating for Halloween.

This neighborhood is well known to be one of the best areas for holiday decorating so it was nice to let the kids get to trick or treat there this year, even if we’re not actually living there.

Just one example and far from one of the most elaborate…

Bet you get a lot of full size candy bars!

(Haven't commented yet but I  love your tile choices.)

Props go entirely to the wife. She was our interior designer. I had ZERO input.
Or rather, she'd ask for my input and then did whatever she wanted anyway hah.
Luckily I think she has good taste.

Move in week! I think lol. Still lots of little things (like the cabinet doors you see missing here that were cut incorrectly) but I think we’re still good do go!
I’ll be sure to get some better pics of everything for those of you who hung around for updates.
For me, its been fun going back through the pages and looking at the progress.

After months of procrastination, I finally got the garage floor done. Behold. This is the cleanest it will ever be lol.
Now I can get the cabinets and work bench in along with the 4 post lift I ordered about a month ago.
I’ll get some pictures once it’s all “done”.

Thanks! Still a work in progress to be honest.
To save a few bucks (and since my wife likes to DIY) we are currently building out the laundry room.
Will hopefully have that wrapped up shortly!

Garage is finally almost done. Got the lift in last weekend and the cabinets in yesterday.
Still have some organizing and arranging to do (and possibly even more storage solutions) but it is finally a working and functional garage.

That's the best care a Vee-dub has likely ever had.

I had 70 Squareback in Alaska in about 1976 to early 80's. I also had a 70 vette and a 70 Nova (the Nova I bought for $50 from a friend and the vette was a POS.)

The Squareback was the perfect car for Anchorage. It refused to get stuck. I could rock it back and forward and it would grind it's way out of a snow drift and bounce along like a dingy through deep snow ruts. If the snow plow came through and dumped a bunch of snow next to the car, I could grab a couple guys and we could bounce the front end out of the deep part and point it towards the street, then back and forth it until we were free birds on our way. Great little car. Just did what it was supposed to do with no complaints.

I do love the thing! It has been pretty neglected the last year while getting the house built and settled. It was basically in storage and had (and still does have) a bad generator. So I need to get that sorted.
Also considering starting the process of body work. Not sure where the car was originally from, or where it has been. But there is definitely some rust.
The previous owner painted the thing in his garage and it looks good from about 5 feet away (and in pictures) but is far from great. And looks like he painted over some suspect body work.
I want to get the whole thing sanded down and do some rust remediation and get it re-painted, or possibly leave it with the rat rod look and thrown a clear over it.
Funny you mention aircooled VW's in Alaska. My wife's Grandfather was in the Air Force and stationed somewhere in Alaska and had a Beetle during his time there.
He said mostly the same things you did about it! He loved sliding it around and said it did quite well in the conditions.

I now officially envy you
I say the same thing to myself when everyone keeps posting new watches! Now everyoine can see where all of my watch money has gone haha.

Thank you. This was the only part of the house I had any input with lol and so far I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Still would have made it larger if I could! but the lot size prevented that, which is why I had to make it tall.
hang on theres still plenty of time to pile it full of useless shit high up to the rafters!
And yes, that is probably what is going to happen. There is so much usless space up there, so I'll likely find a way to make it less usless.
hen hen

And by usless shit you mean more car projects? If so, yes hah.

If Granddad was in Anchorage it was probably Elmendorf, which has now joined with the Army's Ft. Richardson to form a joint base.

No by useless shit I mean that even though it's "your " space, you'll find bloody rubbish like kid's bikes, boxes of school books from years ago, broken chairs, boxes of old kitchen junk, empty flower pots & other garden nonsense, old tellys & obsolete computer junk, etc.
I have a rule: If I didn't put it there it will go into the trailer and off to the rubbish tip, if it warrants dry storage there are some small garden type sheds for garden tools, lawn mowers etc. Lesley has the house other than one room, where no one else but me goes, and one of the lounge areas which is the most used by every body but decorated with my shit.... old race car pix and display cabinets and book cases of my stuff.
The other lounge ares are decorated Lesley's stuff book and display cases etc. and are mainly used by the budgies....yes tiny little birds have the best rooms in the house! There are of course, rooms where I never go that are full of Lesley's shit, nothing of interest to me in them!

Well, the plan is to certainly keep this one as tidy as possible. But I suppose we'll see how that goes!
