Baby vomit should contrast nicely on the Boxster red upholstery
::stirthepot::😁
All part of the story of the car, and far outweighed by the chance to share one of my passions with my kids. Life is too short to worry about things like that in my view.

There’s nothing more beautiful than a really good mechanical device - be it a car, watch, tool… - being USED. It’s fantastic seeing a 300SL, ferrari f40, or Speedmaster CK2915 on display… but it’s far greater seeing them on the road or the wrist.

… are you open to adopting?
LOL… No, thanks, Phil. I’m full up with kids.
However If we lived closer, I’m sure we’d be sharing drives and generally tear-assing around.

One of very few days here in Bangkok when it’s only 20+ Celsius and no traffic at all.

As most people have left Bangkok to spend time with family in other provinces, it leaves us with the opportunity for a coffee and cruise.

Enjoying the company with 30+ cars from the “round dome headlight lover club”. A perfect end of 2023.

How are you spending new year?

I had a lifelong fascination with automotive design and have driven a few sports cars... nowadays it's all at a much slower pace, which doesn't necessarily mean I'm still interested in the history of sports cars brand (Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes and some British brands).
Sharing 2 photos of New Zealand engineer Bob Wallace (1938-2013) who was test driver at Lamborghini between 1963 and 1975. Here Bob was wearing an Omega Speedmaster chronograph on flat link bracelet.... Omega's sports car racing heritage.

I've always been into cars - I grew up as a grease monkey in the era of Dukes of Hazzard and Cannonball Run. My father taught me how to change a spare tire at age 5.

I was a motorhead in my teen years, but now I've toned down to driving in comfort with a little sport flair. If it weren't for having caught the watch fever, I might have stepped up to an AMG by now.

Here's what I drive now:

2013 C300 (soon to be my daughter's)

2022 XC90 Inscription

2021 S60

These are some of the ones that have moved along:

2016 E350

2008 E350

2002 C320

2001 Maxima 20th Anniversary Edition

2000 S80

1991 735i

And my first car that I built from the ground up (blue station wagon)
1971 Datsun 510

Here’s another street/track car of mine, which has been in my stable since 2001. BMW 3.0 CS, with a 3.5L at 12:1 compression, triple Weber 45 DCOE’s, close ratio dogleg gearbox. 280 lb/ft and 300HP moving a 2600 pound car. I drove this last week in Maine, on a 45 degree day- it has no side windows or heat. Light and nimble!
Wow!

Volvo C30. Picture taken half an hour after I bought it. I had just filled the tank with petrol despite it having a diesel engine. This was the second time I did this, it hard to change after just riding motor cycles most of my adult life.

Slick top is the way, one of my top priorities for a car is no sunroof, I’ve had too many bad experiences lol

I agree, but in Can and US all BMWs come with sunroof unless you custom order the basic version. Minis don't even let you do that.
Manuals are getting tough to find outside of M cars too.
This makes mine pretty unique. I am glad that it fell into my lap.

Since it's a car thread, I'll "park" this right here: I'm at that point when I don't drive the old cars much, so I've sold what I had, leaving a gaping hole in the lower garage. So now I'm seeing all these 55, 56, 57 T birds for sale. They were very hot 20 yrs ago. But it appears their collector generation is passing away, and the cars aren't really muscle cars, so there must be few buyers. You can get one of these insanely cool old rides in nice shape for 15k usd. I'm sorely tempted to grab one, but I value sleeping inside the house, so....

Has anyone else noticed this? I mean...think of the white one with the porthole that a young and super hot Suzanne Somers drove in American Graffiti. Crazy. I'll try to find a photo to post. 424917543_7091279287591817_1306320697323406065_n.jpg

It's interesting how tastes move on as the primary buyers age out. Now E30 M3s and S2000s are commanding big $$.
That T- bird is a lot of cool for $15k.

I ran may old British classic cars through my 20s & 30s: 1969 Rover 3500, 1979 Dolly Sprint and a 1977 Inca yellow Dolomite Sprint. Great fun but difficult so maintain and mostly just disolved in my ownership given the salty southcoast air.

I've had a wonderful E60 530i for the past 12 years and realised that it was fairing much better than the old Brit stuff mainly due to the galvanised metal. So decided to spend some money on the finish to accompany the rock solid mechanicals:

After some new paint & alloy refurb

I had an s2000 that I got in 2001 and had for about ten years. I loved it but sold it for about 15k with low miles. I always knew it would be one Japanese car would go back up in value. Great little car.

1967 Ford Mustang convertible
1999 VW GTI

2002 VW GTI
1964 1/2 Mustang covertible
2003 Mazdaspeed miata (totaled by a hit and run driver while parked)
2006(?) Mazdaspeed 6
2000 M roadster
1966 mustang coupe
2014 Mini countryman
2016(?) BMW i3
2012 Tesla Model S
2021 Tesla Model Y (totaled after being rear-ended at a stop sign by an F150 driver who forgot i was in front of him while waiting a long time to turn onto a busy highway)
