That thing looks an absolute hoot!
Thanks! Yes it's certainly that. When it goes its powered by a 2002 Yamaha R1 engine, 150hp & 11,500rpm. I know 150hp isn't much these days, but the car only weighs 300Kg. That's 100Kg more than the donor bike that the engine came from, so I changed the gearing to reduce the top speed and keep some of the acceleration. Theoretical top speed is 142mph. I've never been brave / daft enough to try.

The bike engine its powered by comes with a sequential 6 speed box, but no reverse. So I fitted a Quaife in line reverse gear box in the middle of the propshafts. It's activated by a lever in the footwell. That means the car has six forward gears and six reverse gears. Again in theory it will do 142mph backwards. And again, I've never been brave enough to try anything other than 1st gear whilst in reverse (1st gear is good for 60mph.)

Go on……have a crack at 142mph in rewind….dare ya!

T................. That means the car has six forward gears and six reverse gears. ....................

Pffft, the Aussie Lightburn Zeta had that capability way back in the 1960s with four forward and four reverse gears.
To get reverse, you turned the ingition off and then started the motor (2 stroke) backwards.

Like you, I doubt that any sane person ever tried it's full reverse capabilities.

The
Lightburn Zeta wouldn’t do 124mph if you threw it out the back of a C130 Hercules!
Not exactly aerodynamic or stylish!
I give you the Lightburn Zeta….

they even did a ute!

I beg to differ.

If a Zeta was rolled off the ramp of a Herc at 15000 feet, it would achieve a terminal velocity of 175mph or 78 metres per second.

😉

Not with the drag from those shit aerodynamics 😁
Actually they were so flimsy the air buffeting would rip it apart, so some bits probably would hit terminal velocity.
But it wouldn’t be able to do it in one piece

Mazda 626 cb chassis 2door hardtop from '79 was my favorite car even though I had a bluebird 910 2door hardtop sss at the same time; the madaz handled better.

I have nothing to do with the sale of this car

Pic of a blue one, mine was metallic. In '79 they had the special headlights which i find more attractive than the 'flat look'

Took me almost a year but settled on a Mini Countryman JCW - bought used with 32k on the clock- much prefer the older body style… not to mention the non digital speedo

Probably only one mod required- to the hifi- will look at Focals mini specific speaker upgrade or getting a quality amp to pair with some new speakers

Have been reducing the fleet - down to Jensen Interceptor, old MGA race car, MGA mk 2 coupe, rebodied MG, Solstice GXP coupe, and BMW Z4M coupe.

My wife's telecommuting days were ending so I needed another car for myself. I was casually looking for 911's, which I do to torture myself, when I saw a 2004 Cooper S for sale. It had never occurred to me to get a mini. My main concern was whether I'd fit, being 6'4". After a bunch of internet reading, I made the buy. The one I got had high miles but lots of maintenance, and it was relatively cheap. Cheap enough that I sold an Omega PO and had money left over.

This is a crazy fun car to drive. I haven't found the point where it leans in a corner. I briefly had a 88 911 targa and this mini is every bit as planted. The supercharger whiz sounds great, and the manual is tight. Love the giant tac right above the steering wheel.

Seats are laid flat for the dog, who lays in the back on cushions. Pretty perfect little ride. Even has good gas mileage. Picked up an extra supercharger at the local junk yard because I was a little nervous, but doubt I'll ever need it. Seems pretty solidly built. It's wierd that these have been around for so long but they never registered.

Ghibli. Guessing a '67

Oddly enough it is a 1957 car, but it is an MGA with a Fiberfab after market body on it (about the only rebody kit I know of that actually looks like it could be a 'real' car model.

I re-engined it with a 3.4 GM V6 (with upper plenum engraved with 'MG') and T5 trans. I even took it to an Italian car day when I also entered my Islero S and no one thought it was other than some Italian model they couldn't quite put a name to (it has only one badge on the dash that would identify it as an MG). It has c. 190 bhp and weighs 2100 lbs. so a nice touring car. It is also very low - 44", which is 4" lower than a Ferrari Dino. Windshield is C2 Corvette, sides are Karmann Ghia and rear window is Porsche 911.

I see why you thought Ghibli, though.

Never in a million years. Era and it being a kit I would have guessed but after that no clue.

Love it!!!

yeah, I tried t make it look like a regular car - Miata leather seats, and mostly MG instruments. This shot shows how far back you have to rake the seats

And this shows how low it is
