·They did make weird looking watches. Most of you are to young to remember the Cold War. I remember it well remember duck and cover in school and the air raid siren being tested that was at school you could hear around the neighborhood one time it went off by accident we kids thought the world was coming to a end when that happened wakings you up at night . Then being in the US Navy when our ship would leave Guam and a Russian trawler spy ship would follow us being a sub tender that tended bommers they thought we were important . On my second ship a ammo ship we had a interesting west pack off the coast of Korea doing a military exercise that the US Navy use to do every year before our current president canceled it. We had Russian bears fly over the battle group it’s there version of the B-52 bomber but with props instead of jet engines and of course the Russian spy ships but a Russian Victor class sub kept playing games with the USS Kitty Hawk popping up in front of it to make the carrier change course it did it one to many times and got ran over a piece of that subs prop was stuck in the haul of that carrier you don’t play tag with a aircraft carrier it was towed back to Russia. President Regan who was commander and chief at the time did not take any crap from the Russians not like it is today were we are push overs and take the crap. Here is a youtube video of the USS Kitty Hawk incident a history lesson for ones born before the cold war. One of there spy ships was recently patrolling off the east coast and not obeying rules of the road at sea lucky it did not collide with any large ships there up to there old tricks . In the video liked how the crew painted a red sub on the island as a sub kill the Navy made them remove it.
