Which one to go for; Green or Brown

Between the two I'd go for the brown, I'm not not too keen on colored dials other than blue. They tend to be too trendy, in vogue today, out tomorrow.
Brown has 70s vibes. I like vintage looks. Brown has never been a trendy colour, if my memory serves me well. On the contrary it is normally associated with short production models.

Not my thing, but I do like the green, like they say green with envy.
Especially Cartier Green is more envious than others.. 😁

Green looks better.
Yes. Cartier made few green Santos for Middle East markets earlier. I agree green will be more compatible in different situations.

I can't really agree with the "green is trendy, here today, gone tomorrow" statements. While not totally wrong, green watches made a serious comeback during Covid (somehow) from multiple watchmakers, and it doesn't exactly seem like... the popularity is dying down. I'd be curious to see the actual sales figures based upon color, but I think we all agree that black is by far the most popular color for any watch face. Even so though, green has been around for a while.

Also- neither green nor brown is a market leader, but brown dials (short of tropical dials) really aren't top fashion. As sporty as this watch is it is still quite dressy, and a green watch can go with pretty much anything, navy, midnight, or black suit, grey, brown, and dressed all the way down to shorts-and-a-t-shirt on the beach and still look fantastic. In the same setting, the brown watch (obviously in my overbearing opinion) is going to look slightly too dressy with most t-shirt setups, but... manage to clash with at least half the business casual/dress setups I can think of.

It's like- can a brown watch be a statement piece? sure, but then it's going to clash with your shoes if they aren't the same color brown. Meanwhile green is a fresh color and will act as that statement and flash of color, while not being too loud.

Ironically, I think green would work better in many of these situations than blue would, and I say that as someone who is a huge fan of blue watches. I think many of us see blue as a sporty color first, but especially a blue as flashy as this green is going to suggest some amount of action that the green watch may not inspire.

I've got to admit one more thing though as I type this out that's a bit hypocritical- I've been off-and-on admiring the Bronze-gold seamaster, which has an almost black dial and an incredibly deep chocolate bezel, so it's sort of a "brown" watch. I've thought of dozens of outfits it would absolutely work with. so it's possible I just don't like this brown cartier as much as a like the green one. And honestly, I don't think that color brown in a gold case would be attractive. Maybe it really does need the platinum case to work.

I have watches with dials of all sorts of colours, blues, greens, yellows, reds, whites, blacks, golds, silvers, greys and oranges, there's even some browns............which one I wear depends on my mood and what I'm wearing.
The green ones definitely get much more wrist time than the brown ones

You have made an impressive case for the green one. Your comparison and analysis are persuasive indeed.
Cartier has introduced a brown dial with gold combination as well recently.

"if it's yellow let it mellow....if it's brown flush it down" this saying is used in places the have a water shortage, where it is considerd wasteful to flush the toilet every time just for a piss, but not wasteful to give a turd a good send off!

Brown will easily match other things you regularly wear - like leather belt or shoes.

Well although I don’t do brown clothes other than leather I do wear green shirts often so I have a watch to match

The white dial Santos will be my next watch. They are unique and beautiful timepieces.

I keep thinking the same. But I want the galbee with the fully square bezel...at least that's the version I want today

The only time you should need your watch to match the skid marks in your jocks is when you wipe your arse in public....not a popular spectator sport....though these days anything seems to be fair game!

The green matches my eyes....I s'pose the brown would match my browneye, but as I tend to wear pants it is seldom seen!
