I will bear that in mind @amcclell !! haha! Well thank you all again and I am pleased to report that the watch arrived today and it's soooo lovely - every bit or better even than it looks in photos! The birthday is next week and am now on the search for a box - such a good suggestion @UncleBuck thank you it will complete the present perfectly!

Whatever you do, do not try the watch on. Furthermore, delete your account here now! If you put that on your wrist you will find yourself spending late nights trawling eBay and this forum trying to score your next fix. You will be justifying watch purchases because you were “good” this month. Your holiday wish list will become straps and watch tools, any other hobbies you have will become secondary.

You can be saved....run rabbit, run!

So you paid over the odds. Unless you feel ripped off then who cares? The seller seemed on the level and was happy for you to back out. If you were buying the watch for yourself, no doubt you would be patient and wait for the right watch at the right price, and who knows how long that might take and what the right price would be when you finally found it?

Meanwhile you've found a gorgeous looking watch in time for your dad's special birthday. There's no price you can attach to that.

For what it's worth I'd say you made a really good call. And more for what it's worth, I love gold furniture on a steel case, and even more so on a black dial. It's a really lovely Seamaster.

I hope the moment you give it to him lives long in the memory.
