It’ll never end. And that’s not a bad thing. New people becoming interested will lead to repeat debates. I prefer this over the debate shifting to something like… Speedy vs Black Bay Chrono.
Although, Speedy vs Polaris Chrono is something I think about a lot…
Thanks for all of the replies, I really enjoyed reading everyone's input. I love my Speedmaster's, and the Apollo/Soyuz is one of my favorite Speedies that I own. I do appreciate all of the changes that Rolex made to their 12 series Daytona's, the 4131 movement with fewer pieces than the 4130, the addition of the chronergy escapement, the updated non-asymetrical case with deeper crown guards as well as the updated dial and bezel, they went in the direction of previous generations. I don't find the dial overly complicated and I have been able to easily read the time at a glance. That being said, Speedies have the advantage in legibility with their beautiful, straightforward dial design and I love them for their heritage and beautiful design elements.
The solid black ceramic bezel of the 116500LN was unique and looked sporty. The new 126500LN bezel makes it look like a glorified Tudor chronograph. So I'd go with the Soyuz meteorite Speedy.
I don't know, this comes from the man with multiple Zeniths. We all know you are a Daytona dude. Nice try.
