Which 36mm Datejust color dial?

After some further research, I decided I wanted the super jubilee bracelet with slimmer hour markers (ref 116234) which 126234 doesn't have.

I found this pre-owned 2016 36mm silver DJ on Sunday and got it this morning! I went to the Rolex service center on Fifth Avenue to get the bracelet resized in the afternoon as a walk in. It went so smoothly at Rolex.

And now, it's on my wrist. I think I will sleep with it on 😀

I'm SO in love with it. Pictures don't do it justice.

Thanks to everyone on the forum for their suggestions and recommendations. I heart this forum and community!

Great selection, congratulations. I like the way you sought advice from OF and shared your thinking - and the outcome was clearly worth it.

The DJ is such a timeless option, but it's also so conservative. I'd get the one with the pattern dial on the lower left. I think it's a bit unusual and creates a bit more visual appeal.

I am not a fan of the Jubilee bracelets. I inherited this from my brother. I like the case, the band, but not the face.

That's a nice piece.

When I bought my OP in 2017, I wasn't a fan of the cyclops and the jubilee at all, especially the two-tone bracelet. Now, I specifically was searching for a jubilee bracelet. Guess our taste evolves 😉

@lindo my mom took my father's 2001 Rolex 16233 out of the safe deposit box because she thought we should sell it (as I have been talking Rolex pieces the past couple of weeks).

to my pleasant surprise, it's a champagne tapestry dial with original box and papers! ummm, i will most definitely keep it. it ticks off all these boxes: tapestry dial, champagne dial and yellow gold fluted bezel (wanting to get the President 18238 next year so this satisfies the itch for now ::psy::)

it's in great condition although it runs about a minute fast (as expected since it needs a service). just need to find a good watchmaker in NYC/queens area to give it a nice cleaning/lube job.

thanks @JwRosenthal for confirming not to give it to RSC coz they will replace parts and not give me back the original ones.

As far as datejust 36 is concerned, that is how I ended up so far with different dial colors --

Great watch. Finding another dial for it should not be a problem. There are many original factory dials available out there. Depending on the style, and quality of dial, costs range from $250.00 - $600. A watchmaker can change out a dial for you in a matter of minutes. I watched my watchmaker swap out a dial for me, just last week. It was all over and done with in 15 minutes

If you want to take the more expensive route, you could take it to Rolex. They will happily replace your dial with any dial option that came in that model. They will keep your dial, charge for the new dial and probably want to offer / insist you get a full service at the same time. This was my personal experience recently with the CS rep at RSC Dallas.

3/4 I have on order. I just have a thing for Blue dials on all watches.

While I look forward to picking up a modern 36, I am partial to 4 and 5 digit DJ’s….

Black (16234)

Blue (16233)

Linen (16234)

Note: The 16234 came with the Black dial but the previous owner fortunately provided the original Linen dial that the watch was issued with. I just recently corrected.

I have this dial and I tried on the 16234. The marks on the 7 o’clock marker bothered me so I settled on the original Linen.

Congrats on both of you DJ’s. The Super Jubillee is a great addition. I actually acquired one for my Daytona

Your Tapestry 16233 is a beautiful watch also
