I'm embarrassed to say I own 3 of these

I will eventually sell 1 but they are so versatile, so comfortable on the wrist, that i wear them all the time

I have not seen the blue fluted. The silver is indeed versatile. But to me the stars are black and bright blue and i believe they are far superior to the vintage colors

The blue is the single best sunburst blue ive ever seen. The black also is sunburst and changes quite a bit in the light (not photographed well here)

i would also note that with smooth bezel and oyster bracelet the watch is so sporty. . really a can wear every day any setting watch. jubilee and fluted bezel makes it much much more dressy

WOW!! I'm a loss for words. They are truly beautiful. Thank you so very much for sharing.

Silver is still my number one choice (fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet). Black was my 2nd, not blue may have taken over that spot 馃槈

Do you find the fluted bezel more "shiny/flashy" than the smooth bezel? What's turning me off is the shininess of the fluted bezel.

Well as you can see i have one smooth + jubilee, one smooth + oyster, and one fluted + jubilee

The jubilee makes it more formal but still versatile. For me a fluted bezel belongs on a day date / president . Not a date just

But many rolex fans would disagree

Jubilee is one of the most comfortable bracelets ever but if you put a gun to my head I'd keep the blue dial smooth bezel on oyster. It can be worn literally anywhere.

I would say the jubilee can be worn anywhere and anytime as well. Great pieces! BTW, if you're willing to part with your silver dial 馃槈

NYCwatchgal, I know you said you wanted new, but there are attractive older DJ dial styles that are only available second hand. I found this one in absolutely new condition (Rolex refinished of course) a few years ago, and still like it as my only Rolex amongst a bunch of Omegas. It is different, and somehow looks less clunky than current DJ designs.

That's so pretty too! That's considered a tapestry dial? I really like the texture.

What I do NOT like about the new models is the stick markers. They're thicker than the older models which I prefer.

The hunt/research continues...

Thank you for sharing!

The silver dial is classic fantastic. I used to have a Date Just 2 with a silver dial. Beautiful watch but the big lume markers bothered me.

In regards to the silver dial minor detail, in low light can be hard to read. The whole thing can become dull and washed out. However, silver is my choice classic colour.

Just learned that the blue ones are NOT available to order 馃檨

@JwRosenthal I'll look into your suggestions. Thanks so much!!

(Silver is my first choice)
Yea the Rolex buying experience isn鈥檛 fun when the options are take what you get mostly 馃檨

Good luck with your purchase that fluted blue does look great but I鈥檓 sure you鈥檒l enjoy the silver if you pick it up

love the vintage silver linen dial -- spectacular

that said, DJ is one of the only rolex pieces where i love the modern compared to vintage

i have many vintage rolexes and don't feel that way about any other model. i also much prefer the sticks to the lume markers on the vintage DJ models and i just can't say enough how the feel / weighting look of the watch in this latest iteration is pretty much perfect

The vintage jubilees are a bit on the nasty and flimsy side for sure

Yes, the silver dial is indeed classic and versatile. And paired with fluted bezel may make the DJ more subtle (as one piece), less "flashy" compared to the high contrast of a dark dial. Nothing wrong with that. I'm sure that's the point Rolex wanted...so the dial stands out.

Exactly @dsio! If you're going to shell out all this cash, you should be able to order/purchase what you want which I was able to do with my 34mm OP in 2017.

Thanks!

when you say vintage Rolex pieces, what year/timeframe would be considered vintage vs modern?

some pieces I've seen in the 50s and 60s, not a fan.
70s and 80s are better (after quickset was introduced in 1977).

Datejust is so timeless.
The flutted blue is awesome as modern Rolex. For the others go for vintages.

After some further research, I decided I wanted the super jubilee bracelet with slimmer hour markers (ref 116234) which 126234 doesn't have.

I found this pre-owned 2016 36mm silver DJ on Sunday and got it this morning! I went to the Rolex service center on Fifth Avenue to get the bracelet resized in the afternoon as a walk in. It went so smoothly at Rolex.

And now, it's on my wrist. I think I will sleep with it on 馃榾

I'm SO in love with it. Pictures don't do it justice.

Thanks to everyone on the forum for their suggestions and recommendations. I heart this forum and community!
