When did you realize that you have a serious watch problem?

When you went from 1 Breitling Colt bought in 2000, only wore that one watch- then, in a fit of a late mid life (lol) crisis - buy these watches (a vintage Omega Seamaster Cosmic, 2 vintage Rolex Oysterdate Precision’s, 1 Bradley II JLC from 1952, 1 new Zinn 556I, 1 vintage 36k beat Ulysse Nardin, 1 ULysse Nardin San Marco GMT circa 1999, 1 Breitling D13350 chronomat.... ok. It’s a problem now. Barely looking at work related stuff and reading, researching about something I didn’t give a rats a— about four months ago. Help!!!!

I know this is small potatoes to some collectors on this forum...

But I realized that I have a watch problem when I have a $10k + collection and I'm an engineering student at university. I'm not "rich" by any means (1st world standards at least) and I'm an adult student, so no help from parents or anything. Just a military veteran with a serious problem! (And before anyone says I'm irresponsible, no I'm not in debt, no I do not place myself in financial insecurity for this hobby)

All kidding aside... it sounds as if you're taking a responsible approach to the whole
thing. Well done. Keep it up for a few decades more and you will have quite the collection/stash.

I'm starting a new career and will have plenty of extra scratch to buy watches. It's been years since I've made a watch purchase. I do have 50 or so. The problem is they are like cars- they require maintenance. If you can't do it yourself you will go bankrupt. Or you spend all your time sitting at the bench.

I realized I had a problem when I brought my lunch to work for over a month to help finance the cost of a watch.
