What's the best way to Sell a Vintage Omega

I have recently had a couple of Vintage Omega Seamasters Serviced (one from 1961 and the other a Norman Morris Seamaster Deville from 1972) and I am trying to find the best way to sell them and possibly value them. I am in the UK and this is the first time I am dealing with Vintage watches. The watches have been serviced by an Omega approved workshop and have a warranty. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Use the search function here to research the recent Private Sales. There is Chrono 24 although the asks are usually high, you can get a sense, then there is the completed sales history on E-Bay. Read up on how to grade the watches you want to sell. “Learn How To Fish” Thread is a good guide to what collectors are looking for. Please read the rules here regarding sales. Be advised that members here are already weary of the demands for free appraisals which increase around the holidays. So if you want our help, do some research first and remember the manners your parents and teachers taught you.

Chrono wants your social security number because of new European legislation. They are obligated to notify the national
tax authorities about your sales....

Thank you for your advice. I have already done quite a bit of research on the watches so I know a fair bit about them. I've had them serviced so I also have a record of the serial numbers, case reference amd movement numbers. Ebay puts me off as people tell you to look there and it may be the same watch but the condition is vastly different. I have a C6865 14k Tiffany and Co dial Omega Seamaster Deville dated 1972 and a 14761.1sc dated 1961 Omega Semaster in Steel.

Just curious as to what was done during service and how much you paid for each watch at the Omega workshop?

On both the crown and stem were replaced, the crystal was replaced with oem on the steel seamaster and they were given a good clean and service.

£668 was the total cost for the work on both watches.

Ok, say £334 ( €390) each. Here will be your problem, as looking at both of these watches and being brutally honest as a collector I'd value them both together at somewhere around your servicing costs, perhaps a little more, perhaps a little less.

My advice- be very realistic with what you are hoping to achieve.

I suspect your 'Tiffany' SMDV may be a redial. The Tiff script looks OK but Seamaster does not, to my eye at least. Others may disagree of course.

It’s unfortunate but you’d have netted a higher value had you sold as unserviced.
Nevertheless, some people do look for hassle free, serviced watches so make sure show pictures of your servicing receipts and other details when selling.

The scrap value on the gold on the c6865 with tiffany dial is more than I paid for its service.

Sorry it may be my photograph that is slightly distorted but if you watch the linked video you will see that everything is correct.

Ah, I didn't realise yours was solid gold.

The C6865 only came in solid 14k gold, the C6336 is the gold filled model.

Service crown will also hurt the value.

I understand that but they were both missing their crowns to start with so nothing I could do. I didn't know enough at the time to source the correct ones with the correct stems in the correct condition. I can't I.agine that would be a huge problem for someone with more experience and to fit them as well.
