Apologies for the terrible lighting, will take better pictures tomorrow in the sunlight— just wanted quickly to share a few more images:
The experience at King of Prussia was pretty smooth and easy. They had 74 watches total (only 3 Mars) and likely 400-500 people in line that I could see. I was #42 and snagged the last Mercury. Not sure how many were sold before me but I only saw 1 other. My partner bought a Jupiter. The person behind us bought the last Saturn. Mars and Uranus were already sold out by the time we made it into the store.
The people around us in line were a mix of existing enthusiasts, people new to watches, and flippers. One flipper sold his watch for $1500 to another reseller who had a buyer lined up at $2000. The majority of us were young, but there a number of people over 60 as well. People drove in from all over, places like Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, DC, NJ, etc.
Many of the people I talked to had strong aspirations to own a Speedmaster but could not afford it. They owned watches like Oris, Hamilton, Seiko, and Orient. I was very happy to see them be able to buy Moonswatches and leave with huge smiles on their faces. Others had impressive collections but wanted to have a piece of horological history. I, of course, wore my Speedmaster.
As far as serviceability, the case back does not open. However, it looks like the bezel might pop off… I’ll leave that sort of evaluation to resident experts like
