What’s happening on March 26th then?

I guess the professional segment analysts should all call you up!

Let them know you plan to market and sell youth (swatch) and luxury apparel the same way as artichokes

Nobody needs to call me up, I have no intention of selling Swatches, luxury goods or artichokes, and I don’t need snark on a discussion board.

Guys like you make me wonder if you take a tone with people in person, or if you embrace the anonymity provided by the internet.

Thank you for reminding me why I avoid boards like this and people like you . . .

No offense to those who waited in line (or paid a multiple of the MSRP), but I'm losing interest as I see more photos and videos.

I had no idea Richemont owned Watchfinder & Co, now that I do I'll give them a miss

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but WF has maintained the normal bias of a watch dealer spotlighting brands for sale. As such, still plenty of positive Omega content, and as far as I can tell, not a bias towards Richemont brands.

Seems like Richemont just let's them do what they do.

Edit: I'm speaking strictly about their YouTube content, as I don't shop them (I'm US based).

I think one key question for the appeal of the watch is the « bioceramic » thing. If it’s a solid, scratch resistant material that feels close to «ceramic » without the breakability factor, then it sounds appealing. If it’s just a glorified plastic( then one can see the interest die down, once the initial excitement is over.

no one can create a Speedmaster, but there are many micro brand watches offering quality materials at this price point.

Even macro brands. Seiko 5s are 260eur, full steel auto with a bracelet and nice looking. For men and women, the latter version looks quite nice and I'm thinking about giving one to my mother.

Try to treat each other with respect and not get agro even if you disagree, play the ball not the man.

Yea it’s more just a general disdain for the group as I’ve had bad experiences with them especially on servicing (mostly in fountain pens but once in watches too). Of the major luxury goods conglomerates they’re probably the most customer unfriendly

Speaking of professional segment analysts, to plop a few metrics that haven’t really been mentioned yet in this thread but relate to this O+S collaboration drop:

• Bain & Company predicts that Millennials and Gen Z will account for nearly half of the total luxury goods sales by 2025 (for the past few years, Millennials and Gen Z have accounted for 40% of all luxury spending and generated ~100% of the global luxury growth.)

• also from Bain: “Social responsibility remains top of mind for luxury customers and encompasses more than just environmental impact: Eighty percent of luxury customers say they prefer brands that are socially responsible, particularly among millennials.”

• Morgan Stanley: In 2021, only two brands in the 50 biggest managed to grow sales last year - Tudor and Dior. “Tudor is reaping the benefits of a coherent strategy in product and branding, while Dior watch division is enjoying the brand’s momentum driven by streetwear and collaborations with artists like Daniel Arsham.”

• Also Morgan Stanley: “Rolex’s brand success can be explained by a recipe that isn’t magic … [including] … [m]anaging supply where scarcity creates desirability [and avoids supply chain bullwhip issues].”

• SJX/Morgan Stanley RE 2021: “The entry level segment Swiss watchmaking is undeniably suffering from the onslaught of smartwatches - 80 million smartwatches were sold last year compared to barely 16 million Swiss watches.”

• SJX/Morgan Stanley RE 2021: “Another noteworthy development is Cartier dethroning Omega [despite Omega’s sales increasing 30%]. The Parisian jeweller owned by Richemont now takes second place after Rolex with CHF2.39 million in watch sales, an increase of 40% over 2020. This reflects the dynamism of a brand that has been able to connect with a younger clientele in almost all markets.”

• SJX/Morgan Stanley: “Swatch Group is increasingly dependent on its three top brands out of its stable of 17 brands, for both revenue and profit: two-thirds of turnover is generated by Omega, Longines and Tissot, which also generate almost all of the group’s EBITDA. Omega alone is estimated to generate more than half of the group’s operating profit.”

I don’t need snark on a discussion board.

Apologies, I gauged sufficient snark from you first to misjudge the sort of banter you prefer/tolerate

So Modern Apparel Marketing 101 dictates creating a market and then denying the public the opportunity to buy the product, thereby creating an active, vibrant and profitable secondary market from which the manufacturer itself cannot profit?

Gee, economics is a funny game . . .

White flag noted

You can lose interest. I can't wait to get one. I live in Colorado. These are practically perfect bush watches for me. $260 no problem. I'm stupid for anything Saturn. 👍

Anyway, I just forked over $690 to the same company for a new 1503/825 bracelet for my 2531.80...
Don't get me wrong. I'm happy for you and everyone who gets one and loves it !
I'm just realising that it is simply not for me.

Hopefully more limited edition Speedmaster watches, in addition to limited release Speedmaster watches. And they could substantially increase revenue if the thinned down the Planet Ocean.

This is huge in the knife world. Buy two sell one for double or triple get yours for free. EBay sellers have nearly every new release on there site within hours.
Spyderco have many colours in sprint runs at only 600 dealers exclusives that sell out in minutes at $200 and are $500 within minutes on EBay with hundreds to choose from. These aren’t even knife guys, just resellers that resell anything that’s hot. Knifes, sneakers, clothing, accessories you name it. It’s a living for them. They employ family, relatives friends to buy as many as they can.

Spyderco s issue
So guys what happened on the 26th?

The forum was hopelessly torn apart, it seems.

Bush watches? I live in Colorado also, and I'm not familiar with the term. But I found this using google.

As someone who has been thinking hard about buying an Omega for a while, this Swatch thing doesn't sit well. I think Omega have made a mistake here.

Butt jokes….they never get old.
Perhaps this was behind the colour choice for Venus, rather than, say, selecting it for Saturn’s distant neighbor. 😜

I'm about as big into Spyderco as I am Omega (well not quite) I follow all the new releases and it annoys the hell outa me seeing these go straight to eBay. Then you check out the sellers other items and nothing is even knife related ::facepalm1::. I grabbed one of those BHQ aluminum PM2s two weeks ago when they dropped, instantly hate the knife and figured I'd turn around and sell it to recoup my loss. They are all on ebay for double. I threw the knife in storage along with all my other unopened knifes..... I'm not gonna become the one thing I hate 😁
