My IG and FB has been nothing but moonSwatch related. Not sure how much longer I can take it. At least when in on OF I can choose to bypass the moonSwatch threads. Yet I don't. I hope this passes soon. I think we have another 3-4 weeks of this. I hope I'm wrong.

I wore my Speedmaster hat today while at the farmers market. Not a single person said nice moonSwatch hat.

Aside from Swatch not saying “online” in one of their latest posts, has there been anything more direct or definitive about them actually removing references to it being available online later?

I wonder if I just order the Omega velcro strap for my 3861 if people will think I have the new cool MoonSwatch on?!? Avoid lines, waiting to see if I can order online in the states and save $100. Hmmmm

As someone who has been thinking hard about buying an Omega for a while, this Swatch thing doesn't sit well. I think Omega have made a mistake here.

Did you make sure and check your Spam folder in case the email Omega sent you before they decided to make this huge mistake got caught in there?

Richemont understood that they were missing a huge area of profits - the resale market. It was a smart buy on their part.

They also use it to clear returns from dealers… actively encouraging dealers to return stock rather than dump it into the (bit of the) grey market (that they don’t control).

So you want a free Swatch or a chance to buy one when you buy a Real Speedmaster 😒

These are plastic watches that are sold at Swatch and not Omega. It’s a fun thing for Swatch customers and a marketing plan to sell more swatch watches.

So are you a real fan of SWATCH or Omega
I'm a fan of both. Swatch watches were some of my first watches I bought and I did buy the Damien Hirst Mickey Mouse on launch day. I also have a few Speedmasters that I bought so, yes also a fan. I'm not saying to make them available exclusively at Omega but it would be a nice promotion and perk to give to your customers who buy directly through Omega at a time when people are annoyed at gray market dealers and empty cases at boutiques. I bet you would move a lot of Speedmasters and the customer would leave the boutique feeling like something special happened. If Swatch fans want to feed the hype beast and stand in line and bid up plastic watches on eBay that's great too. I think its great how many people are interested in this product and since its not a limited item lets get creative about the distribution.

I’ve lost track at around page 34 so I’m not sure if it was suggested yet, but I think they should discontinue those in a few months and just make it a free gift with purchase of a real Speedmaster. This way the real fans have access to them without having to pay a premium or wait in line for 3 days!

I see what you are saying, but I like the idea of people who can't afford a speedy yet being able to participate (assuming these eventually become accessible online of course).

His analysis in some respects seems off and too early to say (eg assuming these will be widely available), but I do agree with his main point: the MoonSwatch will do less to change how people feel about Omega as it will change how people feel about Rolex on the cusp of Rolex’s “big day” around the corner

It will be interesting to see how people feel about the Rolex release. It will be hard to manage the craze around these moon swatches. Strangely most of the YouTubers who are very upset about the moon swatches are grey market dealers. Wonder why ? 😗. Could it be that people will enjoy their watches and stop buying into market manipulation.

Yes, Omega / Swatch have sucked all the hype air out of the room in advance of W&W, and Rolex will look reeeally stale and stodgey this week if the best they have is Palm Fronds 2.0.

I’m seriously eager to see how the participating W&W’s brands perform (media attention-wise) following this, and how they respond when undoubtedly the bloggers and YouTubers attending will be asking them for their thoughts about it.

No, I think they knew exactly what they were doing. If they had been acting in a true egalitarian fashion, it would have been made available online and flooded the market so there was no chance of limited supply and a grey market. They got their free press and hyped up the market.
Their next move is what will decide what their motivations were,
