What’s happening on March 26th then?

Crazy that Saturn isn't the most popular. I think it is the most appealing. I want Saturn, Earth, then Neptune. I think it is a great thing that Omega/Swatch have done. This may help bring more people into the brand, and they will in turn begin to wish for one of the Speedmaster Professionals, thereby I creasing the fanbase of the Speedies.

I like this color combo the most, but the subdial coloring and rings make it look like a face. I can’t unsee it.

Gonna be Jupiter or Mercury for me. And a Venus for my wife.

Saturn is at the top of my list. A) I like the colors and B) my son thinks Saturn is cool.

Have you seen anything to validate or justify such a suggestion
If anyone is wanting to sell a Speedmaster cheap to me as they have been "devalued" cause of this. I'll gladly take it off their hands. Tritium dials and LE preferably 😝
I haven’t seen anything to validate or justify such a suggestion, but then again, I wasn’t the one to say:

“And if the (sic) dont (sic) get all 11, you speedy guys can paint your now worthless watches yellow and sell them with a profit. Ka-ching for you!
Then you can buy yourselves a real Omega ie. a Seamaster, that people wont (sic) confuse with a moonswach (sic).”

You might want to take it up with the guy who actually said it.

I’m not clear on what you’re saying. Are you suggesting the MoonSwatch has destroyed the value of the Omega Speedmaster Moon watch?

. . .

That was what people was afraid of / joking about some 50 pages back. I dont seriously think you sould paint your speedys yellow either.

This is why the concept of these is cool. We may own real Speedmasters, but we aren’t buying real ones by the dozen for friends and family (if you do, can I be your family?).

If I win the lottery, I'll buy you a Tin Tin. Until then, funky swatches for my little guy.

Apologies for the terrible lighting, will take better pictures tomorrow in the sunlight— just wanted quickly to share a few more images:

The experience at King of Prussia was pretty smooth and easy. They had 74 watches total (only 3 Mars) and likely 400-500 people in line that I could see. I was #42 and snagged the last Mercury. Not sure how many were sold before me but I only saw 1 other. My partner bought a Jupiter. The person behind us bought the last Saturn. Mars and Uranus were already sold out by the time we made it into the store.

The people around us in line were a mix of existing enthusiasts, people new to watches, and flippers. One flipper sold his watch for $1500 to another reseller who had a buyer lined up at $2000. The majority of us were young, but there a number of people over 60 as well. People drove in from all over, places like Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, DC, NJ, etc.

Many of the people I talked to had strong aspirations to own a Speedmaster but could not afford it. They owned watches like Oris, Hamilton, Seiko, and Orient. I was very happy to see them be able to buy Moonswatches and leave with huge smiles on their faces. Others had impressive collections but wanted to have a piece of horological history. I, of course, wore my Speedmaster.

As far as serviceability, the case back does not open. However, it looks like the bezel might pop off… I’ll leave that sort of evaluation to resident experts like @Archer

Thanks for the pics. Looks nice! I especially like the lugs. I've almost bought a couple swatches for fun in the last year but I keep getting turned off by the lugs (or lack thereof). I think I'm settled on definitely buying a couple if I can get them at MSRP. Not interested if I have to pay a premium to a scalper.

Without a doubt, the great majority of the mobs that queued for this are the people who a) don’t care about watches, but b) see a fairly low risk way to make a buck.

That I can understand. Is what it is.

And while the very notion of this collab clearly polarizes this (actual watch enthusiast) community, for those who desire a piece, is it really so difficult to delay gratification and get one after the launch hype lunacy has passed?

Me? Do I want one now? Meh… perhaps. The navy blue looks “cheerful” and could be a fun summer watch. But if I get one, it will only be at regular retail and via online. I will neither travel nor stand in a queue for this. I’ll survive the nanosecond of FOMO and move on if both criteria aren’t met.

that’s an interesting point

on one hand, there are surely legions of folks doing just that, and so the long lines represent some sub-set

on the other hand, this roll out is following the hype release rollout so step-wise, that folks with those antennae tuned are rightfully not counting on there being ample stock in subsequent releases

and they may have a point

Why are we talking about the Moonswatch like it's a real watch and who cares about its lugs. The whole thing is just garbage.

Not sure what your definition of real is but I can assure you that these watches are not imaginary. I'm wearing one on my wrist right now. They exist.

My phone tells time
Maybe you're in the wrong place then this is a forum about timepieces which you can wear on your wrist, aka a watch forum.

real vs authentic. In this case, it's worse than a fake. This is a mockery.

Please don't call the Moonswatch a timepiece.

A thing that didn’t exist in any of our minds just a couple of weeks ago, suddenly becomes a thing that can’t be lived without? I do hope we’re not like that. I’m wagering that the bean counters have switched the Swatch-bots back on.
