Please don't call the Moonswatch a timepiece.
Okay, the Moonswatch is a time telling device you can wear.

Maybe you're in the wrong place then this is a forum about timepieces which you can wear on your wrist, aka a watch forum.

real vs authentic. In this case, it's worse than a fake. This is a mockery.

It is an authentic Moonswatch created by Omega and Swatch. Here it is next to my also authentic Omega Moonwatch.

I don't have a LinkedIn account so I'm sure, but not everybody it seems. 👎

A thing that didn’t exist in any of our minds just a couple of weeks ago, suddenly becomes a thing that can’t be lived without? I do hope we’re not like that. I’m wagering that the bean counters have switched the Swatch-bots back on.
Swatch is in business to make money and the best way for them to start printing it as fast as they can is to satisfy the current demand for the MoonSwatch range.

They’re not numbered so they can make and sell as many as they want or can.

Leaving them as a store-only purchase would demonstrate a level of stupidity rarely if ever seen with the Swiss . . .

I work with a bunch of Stanford bros from a much older vintage. It is always about networking. It is even worse with the GSB guys. 😉

I haven’t seen anything to validate or justify such a suggestion, but then again, I wasn’t the one to say:

“And if the (sic) dont (sic) get all 11, you speedy guys can paint your now worthless watches yellow and sell them with a profit. Ka-ching for you!
Then you can buy yourselves a real Omega ie. a Seamaster, that people wont (sic) confuse with a moonswach (sic).”

You might want to take it up with the guy who actually said it.
I wasn't having a go at you. I'm actually agreeing with you.

You obviously aren't familiar with Swatches sales methods over the past 40 years.

Well, if today’s crowds aren’t enough to convince Swatch Group to offer the MoonSwatch range on-line (assuming they hadn’t already), I don’t know what would. It’s not as if the Swiss are shy about making a buck if the opportunity arises.

By the way, during the Swatch hey-day many years ago, I don’t recall their products ever being the subject of such coverage either in the legitimate media or on the internet. Today’s roll-out was an international event and, again, they’d be foolish if they didn’t capture that lightning in a bottle . . .

Prices on eBay are out of control . This is insanity! It’s not even a limited release!
Neither is the latest Snoopy and that hasn’t stopped it’s stupid aftermarket pricing.

you assume the goal is selling the maximum numbers of this watch

it really isn’t

The internet was not a factor in the previous Swatch heyday 30 years ago, but there was some writeups in the national papers over the frenzy for plastic watches.

We will have to wait and see if Swatch capitalizes on this, my prediction is they won't. They made X number of these watches, and when they are gone they are gone.

So. Some eBay listings are closing for more than I paid for my FOIS. Which, btw is just a fake swatch at this point. 😉

I didn’t say their goal isn’t to sell watches, I said their goal isn’t to sell the maximum number of these hype O+S collaboration watches

Nike’s hype shoes also aren’t “limited edition” but are purposefully made in very limited numbers such that by design only a fraction of people who want them actually get them (at MSRP)

it’s basically Modern Apparel Marketing 101

I am curious what the source of your information on the inner workings of Swatch Group might be.
