I have both 2531 and 1861. 2531 mostly 2500/2800 and a Speed at lightly above 4500 (euros).

But it may vary a lot. If you can, keep the Speed and buy the Diver. If you can't or just want a change, buy a nice exemplary of 2531. Middle ones without box and papers and busted bezels will be harder to sell back if you want to change again.

And other (rarely choose ๐Ÿ˜€ ) option is to buy a 2541.80. Same watch but quartz. Prices are low and if it's ables you to keep the Speed, to my mind it's win/win. It can be found for less than 2000. Sometimes far less. It's Goldeneye and joy to wear. No worries about settings and all. You grab, you wear ๐Ÿ˜€

Are the 2531 counterfeit a lot, polished a lot, etc? Is it a hard watch to find in good condition, in other words? I see some for sale with 2007 dates, and aged looking lume, while also 1999 models with normal lume, just discolored hands (red to pink), etc. I gotta say the aged lume looks wonderful to me on Blue, but I am not sure if Im looking at relumed watches made look like vintage and trying to get higher price.

2541 quartz, is that the one Prince William wears by any chance (Diana gift)? Or his was the "reduced" 37mm version?

William has a 36 mm as I recall. 2541 is the Goldeneye one. The first Omega Bond. 41 mm, same as the 2531 watch, just quartz. As nobody wants some, low prices. I have 2. Soon 3 ๐Ÿ˜€

Plenty of 2531 every where. You will find everything. All I can tell you is the way I see things. Some might disagree.
- 30 years old watches can't be in good condition without being a bit polished. The question is : done well or not. We are not talking about Rolex 6538.
- If the bezel looks new, it is new. 300 euro during an Omega service. Not a bad thing at all.
- Always a photo of the movement (unless well known Pro sellers that can guaranty authenticity). It takes 2 minutes to every body to open a 2531/41. Hard to fake the movement.
- The old tritium ones (before 1997) are an other thing, learn about them first (or ask me ๐Ÿ˜€ ).
- Better a good 2541 than a bad 2531.
- Don't over pay a medium one. I follow a lots of Diver on C24. Medium shape no box/papers hardly sales. Buy a ruin and go service it or a good one.

A well known Pro sellers will have higher prices but mostly free minded about fakes.
