Thanks for the response. 6.2 million should be early 1940s, which definitely fits with the dial/hand design. I am curious about the case because I am accustomed to seeing this dial in more angular cases. If you open the case-back or get an extract, I would be interested to learn more.

I am also curious about the case and would appreciate a inner-caseback shot, if you have one.

I got this offered but not sure about the dial
I am not certain either but it has potential. I like the sub-dial, surface appearance of the dial, and handset. If you have more photos, I would be curious to see them.

Nice watch! I think that I saw this one for sale and was tempted.

Thanx. I bought that watch one year ago from a local seller, for €550. Here is the caseback.

Neat piece. I wonder if you know the reference and order numbers? Presumably, the serial number dates the watch to the early to mid-1940s?

Hi Simon, here is a reply from Longines:

The original serial number 6'221'538 identifies a wristwatch in stainless steel bearing the reference 6231 and the order number 21682. It is fitted with a Longines manually wound mechanical movement, caliber 12.68Z. It was invoiced on 16 December 1941 to the company Ostersetzer, which was at that time our agent for Italy.

Thank you for this update! At present, I have a couple of questions. Firstly, a reference number of "6231" is higher than normal for a 1941 invoice. Secondly, why is the order number not stamped on the case-back? I do recall another reference where something similar occured. I will try to find it.
