Thank you for this update! At present, I have a couple of questions. Firstly, a reference number of "6231" is higher than normal for a 1941 invoice. Secondly, why is the order number not stamped on the case-back? I do recall another reference where something similar occured. I will try to find it.

If you don't know, how should I know? 馃榿

Whatever it is I loveeeeeeee it 馃グ

Seems the back has been changed at some point. I'd like it also.

Thanks for sharing! What is your theory behind it? I don't have enough experience to draw definitive conclusions, but it is interesting that the serial number matches the reference number in the archive.

My initial concern was that the case looked typical of the early 1950s whereas the dial looked typical of the early 1940s. Given that the movement dates to the early 1940s and the serial number matches the reference number in the archive, I would conclude that the watch is probably correct. The case-back markings are unusual, especially the fact that an order number is mentioned in the archive and absent from the back. But it is difficult to imagine the present case-back not being original. Hopefully, other early examples of reference 6231 emerge so that we can compare them. Thanks again for sharing photos and information. I always enjoy studying Longines from this period.

Zapatta , I saw your watch 5-6 years ago at a watchmaker in Zagreb. I was tempted to take it, but the price was a bit high for me,and I wasn't sure about atypical case.
The extract from Longines still speaks in favor of originality.
Oversized Longines are beautiful.

Unfortunately, the dial in this example has been swapped from another case/reference. See photos below.

Has this watch been discussed before? If not, good eye and memory!

Years ago, I was doing some research on Longines from the '30s and '40s with movements marked "5 ADJ.". The example on the left has one such movement. A while later, I noticed the distinctive radium dial appear in a different case. I had not thought about this watch for some time until I looked up ref. 6231 during this discussion. Conventiently, the 'original' case (also distinctive) showed up in a recent search, as well.
