What my watch box has taught me...

Times change everything. Pun intended, or otherwise. Disclosure: I'm not a collector, I'm a wearer. So, I liked what I liked when I bought them. I just finished out my watch box...at least for now. It was interesting to reminisce about them. The where's, the when's and the why's. First, bottom left, a 1957 Hamilton. Why? Born the same year as me. Then my first two luxury watches. For both of them at the time, for me, the '87 Concord and the '93 Tag were big. Next, a couple of sport watches. Then? OMEGA took over. The top row is all Omega's. The oldest being a 'Jumbo' from the '40's. The memories of them are just as cool as having them sitting in my box.

Top row, 2nd from left is upside down. Like most collectors, I have an unhealthy level of OCD. This photo is killing me. 😁

Nice catch, OCD! The necessary corrections will be made.

Fortunately, 'gbesq' I work with a few guys with esq in their title. That said, I always appreciate your attention to detail. So, the amended, revised and corrected watch box 2.0 follows.

@gbesq shouldn't they all be centred on their pads, like top 3rd from left?
Oh, damn it!!! Will not obsess, will not obsess, will not obsess …

And I think maybe start with white dial top left moving to cream, champagne, blue and finally black?

Or case, silver, gold black?

What to do, what to do?

For whatever it's worth, I change out my straps all of the time. Now, Summer, I'm not using any of my OEM Omega straps. I easily have twenty (20) other straps to rotate around with. But I'm also no purist, don't care to be. I paid for them, they're mine. I'll wear them as I see fit. To me, it's one of the beauties of this hobby.

Well spotted 😀. I remember well ensuring that all flathead screws were lined up when installing trim, etc. in classic cars - the attention to detail was of paramount importance.

Indeed, my watch box now has a partner 😉

Wow. Note to self. Don't bother putting anything out there. And for everyone's reference, it was done in (primarily) chronological order. My box, I do me.

I apologize on behalf of the forum, which we know is full of fussy perfectionists, myself included. 😁

FWIW, my watch box definitely is also full of keepsakes. From the tiny franken Omega seamaster I was wearing when my son was born, to the funky beaters I've bought in vacations, to the watches that remind me of memorable work projects. The only problem is that this makes is pretty impossible to sell anything later. 😵‍💫

Ya get yourself a watch box……it looks silly with empty spaces, so you fill it up with more watches…… then you see another watch that you like, you buy it……..now you get another watch box…….. you have the excuse fill it because it looks silly being near empty….. and repeat the process……again and again…….ad-infinitum!

I saw the watches upside down and started twitching in my right eye.

I’m weird like that. Misaligned markers are all I see when I have them as well. It’s amazing how crazy the hobby can make you.
