What model is this? The engraved back says 1949.

Hi Everyone!
My father passed recently. His wife gave me one of his old Omega watches. I have no idea what model this is. There is a number inside the back, 153721. I have search on line for a few hours with no firm answers.

It needs the part that keeps the crystal in place ( don’t know what it’s called if not a bezel). The crystal is about 31mm in diameter.

I’d be grateful for some info on this!

Can't tell you much apart from that the serial number looks, if I squint, like 109xxxxx, which dates it to around 1946. It's a automatic bumper movement with exposed springs, so I think a 30.10. The dial has been poorly re-finished and I can't say much about the case except that I can't see an Omega mark which means that it may not be an Omega case. Better pictures of the inside case back would help.

Likely South American case, never going to find a bezel, but you could get one made, but that could exceed the value of the watch.

Here are the questions exec, what is the emotional value of the watch to you? Are Dolly and Victor relatives or did your Father come across this watch? What did this mean to him? What memories does it hold for you?

What I'm driving at is that from a collectors point of view, you have a gold case with melt value and a 30.10 movement with parts value. That's about it.
I'm not trying to be negative at all because I fully understand the immeasurable value of a family heirloom if that is what we have here, just seeking clarity.

The watch is an heirloom more than anything. That’s where the value is for me.

I would like to find a inexpensive top piece that holds the crystal in place. Not looking for it to be of real gold. Inexpensive after market gold color will suffice. What is that piece called anyway?

As Norman says, you will need to get one custom made or a stock one modified to fit.
I'm afraid I'm of no help in steering you to a source but maybe someone will jump in.

There are some skilled fabricators out there but I'm afraid it may be costly.

On a side note: I love the 30.10 movement, it's my everyday beater. I get some weird comfort out of feeling it knock about. I assume it is the 30.10 and not the smaller 28.10. Does the watch measure 35mmish or 33mmish? 31mm crystal has me thinking 30.10.
