What is the best fitness tracker to wear along with a Swiss Watch?

What I'd like to see is a custom rubber dive watch strap with a Whoop held underneath your wrist for tracking purposes. The sensors still work in this orientation. I don't care about fitness tracking as much these days, so I just wear the Whoop at night.

Could you use the whoop strap like a nato, or is it too wide?

Do people really find these trackers helpful? I keep thinking about picking one up just because I like gadgets, but I primarily train for powerlifting so many of the exercise monitoring functions aren't helpful to me and I feel like the only thing I'd use is the pedometer.

Are there other benefits that I'm not seeing?

Put on the Whoop this morning and it’s useless for exercise tracking. Shows my walking HR as being way higher than it is. If I hold my arms totally still it starts to correct itself. Actual walking HR is 95-100

My Garmin Fenix occasionally displays inconsistent readings with regards to BPM. I’ve done 15 mile cycle rides with an average BPM so high my indicated recovery time has been as high 4 days. Conversely, I’ve done a few 50+ mile rides with a much lower average BPM and 16 hour recovery times. I usually find that restarting the device, occasionally, settles the readings.

Seems to be pretty consistent with the Whoop and related to arm motion. It doesn't cope very well. I tried (and sold) an Apple Watch Ultra 2, which was far more accurate even in motion. If I walk/jog and try to hold one arm completely still, Whoop's reported HR drops like 25BPM 🫠

Whoop is a decent device for sleep tracking/recovery and data seems legit, not confident in the rest of it.

I've been wearing my Fitbit Sense quite a bit this week and at night for sleep tracking of O2 levels though to be fair I have a CPAP machine and you can't get any better sleep metrics than it produces period!

The Oura looks to be the best viable alternative to wearing a second watch but are it's outputted metrics as accurate as the FDA approved Fitbit Sense with it's plethora measurements?
I may need to do a deeper dive on the Oura.
Certainly if they are I think I would jump to one in an instant.

@ghce

If you're willing to trust one of our new AI overlords... Gemini Says:

Oura Ring

Pros:

* Excellent sleep tracking with detailed insights
* Focuses on overall wellness and recovery
* Discreet and comfortable to wear

Cons:
* Limited fitness tracking features
* Higher price point
* Requires a subscription for advanced features

Fitbit Sense

Pros:

* Comprehensive fitness tracking capabilities
* Includes features like ECG and EDA sensors
* More affordable than the Oura Ring

Cons:
* Sleep tracking is not as accurate as the Oura Ring
* Bulky and less discreet than the Oura Ring

-----

I augment my Oura ring with the Nike Plus running app so while running the ring is just monitoring heat rate and oxygen levels, so I'm not noticing its 'limited fitness tracking'. For me aesthetics always trump practicality and often functionality... so the discreet nature of it won on the day.

If you want a more comprehensive fitness tracker with features like ECG and EDA sensors, and don't care too much about aesthetics the Fitbit Sense is definitely a better practical option.

The Oura ring's sleep tracking is very impressive but not worth showing here as most people seem interested in activity tracking. Here's my activity overview from yesterday, where you can see the app pulling activity info for my run in from the health app. I've also clicked through to the 'yardwork' activity so you can see how that looks at a more granular level. The detailed run activity of course shows the trail I ran (mapped) coupled together with the added data from the Oura Ring.

This tracker should be worn with a suite and tie and a gold Rolex watch. 😀
