What happened to apollo 8?

I believe the continued concern that people show about ceramic cases is way overblown. Unless you give it one hellacious knock against a metal surface in just the wrong way, which is extremely unlikely, these cases will last a lifetime. I just don't think it is an issue for the end user. But worriers gotta' worry.

The Apollo 8 has been essentially unavailable for over a year, the base movement is no longer in production, it requires special treatment in production, it's expensive, and it was to commemorate the 50th anniversary in 2018. It's time is up. I'm surprised any OB or AD is taking orders for one now, and giving 20% discount to boot. Hope you get the watch.

My OB is not taking any deposits on this piece any more.

I think OBs can outsource them from other markets if they have any left in inventory. But I don’t know about any discounts if they have to go to that trouble.

I was looking at a grey dealer's website this morning, and he had two new ones. Around $9K I believe.

Hi,
my AD offered me the Apollo 8 today and gives me 22% discount on this timepiece. Now i have to think about it, the call was a little bit surprising and I didn‘t want to buy a new watch that soon… but it‘s really nice.

You speak sense but have you ever seen a chipped ceramic case? I have seen several in hand. It does happen and when it does it is catastrophic as the repair cost* is most of the watch value. It is a pretty silly material to make cases out of IMO. To be fair, most of what I have seen are the Chanel J12 ceramic cased pieces, those seem pretty susceptible to damage. I've only seen one damaged ceramic Omega. The quote to fix that was £3K.

*by repair I mean replacement since there is no repairing damaged ceramic.

22% is really a nice offer better than a price in 24 or any greymarket.

I never heard of a discount this big on this model. You should get it, specially since they are not making any more.

I'd buy the Apollo 8 in a NY minute....if I had any money. If I could buy it with my good looks I'd end up with an Invicta.

My AD gives me 8000euro. If the people can have around 22% tax refund , The price will be like cut to the bone

You should buy it with that much discount. $7,600 for this watch is crazy, have never seen one, even used, at that price.
