What do I have??

I was gifted a Omega watch recently by my grandfather. I've done some searches but haven't come across anything that might tell me about this watch. I'm wondering what year this is and any other information that might tell me what I have. Thank you for your help.

Hi and welcome. Your watch case was made by the American case maker, Ross, under licence from Omega. This was not uncommon (with local production also occurring in France, the UK and Sth America) to get around import restrictions and tariffs on gold or whole watches. It is "gold filled" which is better than gold plated, but not as good as gold capped, or solid gold. See here for an excellent article:

The serial number on the movement (14xxxxxx) dates it to 1954.
